  1. UPDATE: The whole thing was happening because of this app called MacDroid. MacDroid has a known bug (which they have cleverly not documented) that it hogs 1-2 CPU cores and runs fileproviderd which uses high cpu cycles. I determined this by exiting apps from my menu bar one by one, and then saw the cpu usage go down once I exited MacDroid. Some googling confirmed this to be an issue as well. So, sorry for all the unnecessary trouble with this post. @MaLd0n I do have one more issue that has cropped up suddenly. I have the system booting up nice and smooth, but recently, there is a long gap after the apple logo (with the slider) and before the login screen comes up. It takes almost a full minute before the login screen comes up. The machine seems like it reads one of the external drives (I hear the hdd spinning and the heads clacking) before showing me the login screen. Can we do something to fix that?
  2. Do I need CPUFriend or something?
  3. @MaLd0n Already did that. No luck so far. I have also reinstalled the BIOS update file. Nothing.
  4. @MaLd0n Can you tell me what to check for? I have a 9900K, so I guess I am looking for PR00? EDIT: Ok, I found it much lower down in the IOReg. There are 16 entries for PRxx, corresponding to the 16 threads. So it seems I am back to Square One - that earlier I was thinking that maybe XCPM was not loading properly, but it looks like XCPM is loading just fine. So why is my processor always stuck to its top speed (whether I overclock it to 5 GHz, or I leave it at its default turbo values)?
  5. @MaLd0n I checked IORegistryExplorer and it's showing nothing under the CPU section. Pls see the screenshot. Does that give any indication of what might be wrong? I did a bit of googling about it, but couldn't really come up with anything helpful. Maybe it will make sense to you... Screenshot 2025-01-23 at 11.01.53 PM.zip
  6. I used it 'as-is' but there has been no change. I don't know what is messed up here. Biggest issue is that I have only recently noticed the CPU racing. I have no real idea when it started acting up like this.
  7. I've tried everything. Also tried older EFI backups. Reset the BIOS and reinstalled the BIOS update. Nothing works. @MaLd0n you're my only hope now...
  8. I did that, and still no joy. Is there something that could be selected in the OC plist that could cause the CPU to stay full-tilt? I am basically using your EFI, with the SMBIOS changed to iMac 19,1.
  9. Hi @MaLd0n I have downloaded the EFI from the link you gave, and booted up from that as well. The same issue persists. The CPU stays pegged at the top frequency only. Please help...
  10. I only noticed this recently. Maybe it's been going on for a long time, but my Hackintosh, with the following config, has the processor going full tilt at 5GHz. I have observed the CPU using several utilities, but it just isn't clocking down, even when idle. Specs: Board - Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master CPU - Intel i9 9900K overclocked to 5GHz GPU - Sapphire AMD Radeon 5700 XT 8 GB RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPDDR 2400 MHz Samsung 970 EVO Pro x 1TB x2 NVME M.2 drives I also have Manjaro Linux booting up on the same config, and that shows the processor going through all the different clock speeds, and idling nicely at 800 MHz when idle. I have also tried a MacPro 7,1 config from this (Olarila) website, but that also shows the processor pegged to the max all the time. Please find my EFI folder attached here for investigation. I have removed some heavy files and folders from there so that I would be able to upload it within the limit of 5 MB. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd like to continue using the iMac 19,1 SMBIOS, and not have to switch to MacPro 7,1 please. Thanks! EFI-Olarila.zip
  11. Thanks. Everything seems to be working so far. Is it possible to do this using the iMac19,1 SMBIOS?
  12. Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master intel 9900K with igpu enabled (OC'd to 5.1 GHz, if that matters) Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon 5700XT Primary drive is a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB I updated the EFI to Opencore 1.0 using OCAT. Maybe that caused some weirdness...?
  13. Of late, my Hackintosh behaves very weirdly after waking from sleep. When I play a YouTube video that has the vp09 codec, it lags like crazy, and the whole OS is laggy (see video link) This happens only while playing vp09 videos on YouTube, and the whole OS gets stuck for a few seconds. This only happens when I'm playing a video on YouTube (with vp09 videos in any browser, av01 videos play just fine, and the system remains smooth). Also, sometimes the computer does not come out of sleep, especially if it has been left sleeping overnight. Attaching my EFI folder as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 14. Yes! Thank you so much! You're always a lifesaver...
  15. Hi @MaLd0n is it possible to create an SSDT to disable the iGPU on my machine? I want to be able to switch booting the computer between iMac 19,1 and MacPro 7,1 but I don't want to have to go to the BIOs to disable the iGPU every time. My specs are: Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master Processor: Intel i9 9900K macOS version: Ventura 13.4.1 Thanks in advance!
  16. So I finally managed to solve it. I was just trying different options in BIOS to eke out the last remaining bit of performance out of my 9900K processor, and I set 4 out of the 8 cores to run at 5.1 GHz. That seems to have solved the issue. Don't ask me how! YouTube now plays without any glitch, rendered videos play without any issues, and all is good.
  17. I tried. It's still the same. I also have Windows and Linux on the same box. They don't show this behaviour...
  18. Hi @MaLd0n, I am having these weird glitches with video playback, no matter whether I am playing a video in YouTube, or Quicktime, or Quicklook, or VLC, anything. The video develops these blocky artifacts randomly and pixelates badly for a few seconds every now and then. I have attached a zip of a screenshot attached to show what I mean. This has been happening across different MacOS versions (High Sierra, Catalina, Monterey, Ventura) and across different OC versions. I recently updated to OC 0.9.4, hoping things would change, but no such luck... Problem Reporting files are uploaded here, since the zip file was too large to attach here. Please see what the matter could be, and if there is a workaround. Screenshot 2023-06-29 at 3.14.47 PM.zip
  19. My system configuration: Processor - i9 9900K overclocked to 5GHz Motherboard - Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master RAM - 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @2400 MHz iGPU - intel UHD 630 Graphics configured as headless dGPU - Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon 5700XT 8GB OS - MacOS Monterey 12.6.2 Recently I was watching a video on YouTube in the Chrome browser. I don't use Chrome as my default browser, but I have this weird graphics glitch where the video pixelates intermittently, and it was happening a lot in this particular video so I decided to open the same URL in Chrome. Now the video played all right for a while, and then suddenly, there was just a green box where the video should have been. The audio continued to play without any problems. I was also getting green screens on video in Firefox and Safari, so I decided to reboot the machine. After that, I don't have igpu support in video encoding. While VideoProc Converter shows that acceleration is fully enabled and working, I suspect it is showing my 5700XT, rather than the igpu. I don't know how it has suddenly stopped, whereas everything was working fully fine earlier. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 20. Ok, I edited the config file with OC Auxiliary Tool and IT WORKED! Got a fully working MacPro SMBIOS, all thanks to you!
  21. @MaLd0n Thanks, I did not use OCC because I read in places that it removes certain entries from the config.plist, but I did try OC Auxiliary Tool as well, and same results? I am now trying to get a fully functional MacPro7,1 setup, to take advantage of the 5700 XT and stop using the iGPU on the 9900K. Attached is my fully working EFI for iMac19,1 SMBIOS (removed the tools and resources folders to reduce file-size). I just have the following non-vanilla items: A kext to show SDCards inserted into my USB3 Card reader with the Apple-generated icons, not the generic pendrive icons. USBPorts kext generated to allow all USB Ports to work. I keep the XHCIPortLimit switch set to true in config.plist and then open the 16 USB2/3 ports I need to have all ports on the front and back of the cabinet working. dagpm kext, along with SSDT for RX5700XT performance enhancement as detailed HERE I also remove the kexts that I don't need, such as SmallTree, Atheros etc. But for the life of me, I can't get any combination to work. I am at the verge of giving up. WORKING.EFI.zip
  22. Hey @MaLd0n I can't seem to make any changes to this EFI. I am using ProperTree to edit, like get a new serial number, add my USBPorts kext, but even a single letter of change seems to upset everything. What do I need to bear in mind when editing this plist?
  23. Thanks for this EFI. Works just fine, but as soon as I switch to the imac19,1 SMIOS it starts showing a text-only bootpicker and then there is an apple logo without a progress slider.
  24. Something up with the Coffeelake Desktop version. I tried to boot from the EFI folder on a pendrive. It shows a "No schema..." error which goes away very quickly, too quickly to photograph or screenshot, then the text-only picker shows up. On selecting the HDD to boot from, it reboots and then boots into Mac recovery mode. I have a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master with i9 9900K. Everything working perfectly from your last release of the EFI folder.
