Use o -v e veja se aparece alguma mensagem onde o boot fica travado.

Desativar a gpu de verdade é mole, mas vc vai ter de criar uma tabela acpi específica pro seu caso pra controlar o fan que perde o controle quando desativamos a dgpu.
