overscan issue

so I have my DELL hackintosh (10.14) hooked up to my TV via HDMI my understanding/overscan is off to the point that the title menu bar is not visible I used a shell script for high Sierra which works sadly it doesn't work on Mojave here's why... in the script it requires you to change to a different resolution temporarily to calibrate with your monitor/tv the display setting only shows 1 resolution (1920X1080) High Sierra showed 3 or 4 also the advanced menu won't activate (holding left Alt/Option) so the hidden resolutions are not accessible any way to change understanding in Mojave to fit everything on my TV?
