OS X 10.9 Mavericks installation

The 10.9 install is practically the same as 10.8 and 10.7

Mount InstallESD.dmg in Contents/SharedSupport of Install OS X Mavericks.app

Mount BaseSystem.dmg that is (hidden) in OS X Install ESD

open /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg

Use Disk Util to restore the partition OS X Base System to pen drive (or HD partition) in format Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Remove the link Packages from folder System/Installation in pen drive

rm /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System\ 1/System/Installation/Packages

Copy the folder Packages from OS X Install ESD to the folder System/Installation in pen drive

cp -R /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/Packages /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System\ 1/System/Installation

Copy the file mach_kernel to the root of the pen drive. Find it in Packages/BaseSystemBinaries.pkg of OS X Install ESD. Use the app Pacifist to open the pkg.

Install Chameleon or Clover in pen drive

Copy the file Preboot.dmg to the folder Extra in pen drive

Copy the basic kexts to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.9

If after selecting the language you get the message Mac OS X can't be installed in this computer, replace the file OSInstall.mpkg in System/Installation/Packages by the one in MBR patch below (if the install is in GUID you don't need the framework, only the mpkg)

Optional: patched OSInstall framework and mpkg to install in MBR partition
