semac Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) I updated Monterey with no problem, however when it came back it brought a headache: suddenly after a few seconds it seems fine, mouse pointer disappears, operation freezes and reboots. Sometimes for the login screen and after the login screen, it is still normal as if there is nothing wrong. Sometimes it reboots completely and then turns into a lottery - if lucky it freezes, goes back to login and it's normal, if not I lose patience. The OC is the latest available and has been well configured following the previous model that worked very well on previous Montereys. Still not understanding what it is, I downgraded the old Monterey ignoring the new update notification while doing college work. Good evening, my dear MaldOn, where are those ideas of yours? I swear this one was floating... lol Edited April 16, 2022 by semac MB: GA Z87M-D3H, 4 SATA 3Gb/s + 08 USB 2.0 e 04 USB 3.0 CPU: Intel Core i3 3,4Ghz HD: SATA 1Tb Sansung Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4400 Audio ALC 892 Ethernet RTL8168E Keyboard & Magic Mouse bluetooth

semac Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Hello MaLdOn. The keepsyms=1 was already there in the boot arguments. I put the -v and restarted but apparently everything seems to be normal. CJW_KOREA Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 I am also having this exact problem. The computer will login in and then a few moments later restart on it's own.... I saw briefly an Unknown CPU error, but that doesn't explain this issue..... I too have both of these boot arguments on. The panic is related to this issue, specific to MacOS 12.3.1 update. I did not have this issue with MacOS 12.2.1 at all. Seems like MacOS may be going after select system software. ? panic(cpu 4 caller 0xffffff800d1d38f3): Kernel trap at 0xffffff800fc04b71, type 14=page fault, registers: CR0: 0x000000008001003b, CR2: 0x00000000000000a0, CR3: 0x00000000213e1000, CR4: 0x00000000003626e0 RAX: 0xffffff903ba296c0, RBX: 0xffffffd051f43d68, RCX: 0xffffff800fc06016, RDX: 0x0000000000001001 RSP: 0xffffffd051f43d00, RBP: 0xffffffd051f43d50, RSI: 0xffffffd051f43d68, RDI: 0xffffff8b6e143b40 R8: 0x00000000000057d1, R9: 0xffffff803b697a08, R10: 0x0000000000000000, R11: 0x0000000000004000 R12: 0x0000000000000000, R13: 0xffffff99d46d8640, R14: 0xffffff8b6e143b40, R15: 0x0000000000000002 RFL: 0x0000000000010286, RIP: 0xffffff800fc04b71, CS: 0x0000000000000008, SS: 0x0000000000000010 Fault CR2: 0x00000000000000a0, Error code: 0x0000000000000000, Fault CPU: 0x4, PL: 0, VF: 1 Panicked task 0xffffff8b6e9e4670: 285 threads: pid 0: kernel_task Backtrace (CPU 4), panicked thread: 0xffffff86a38e3550, Frame : Return Address 0xffffffd051f436b0 : 0xffffff800d083e2d 0xffffffd051f43700 : 0xffffff800d1e3cb6 0xffffffd051f43740 : 0xffffff800d1d350d 0xffffffd051f43790 : 0xffffff800d023a60 0xffffffd051f437b0 : 0xffffff800d0841fd 0xffffffd051f438d0 : 0xffffff800d0839b6 0xffffffd051f43930 : 0xffffff800d9164bf 0xffffffd051f43a20 : 0xffffff800d1d38f3 0xffffffd051f43ba0 : 0xffffff800d1d35e2 0xffffffd051f43bf0 : 0xffffff800d023a60 0xffffffd051f43c10 : 0xffffff800fc04b71 0xffffffd051f43d50 : 0xffffff800fc06038 0xffffffd051f43dc0 : 0xffffff800fc10c8b 0xffffffd051f43de0 : 0xffffff800d82a94f 0xffffffd051f43e50 : 0xffffff800d82a6fa 0xffffffd051f43e70 : 0xffffff800d0d71f5 0xffffffd051f43ee0 : 0xffffff800d0d82c2 0xffffffd051f43fa0 : 0xffffff800d02318e Kernel Extensions in backtrace: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.9)[A436E92C-DE10-3718-AEF4-ED2A788A466A]@0xffffff800fc03000->0xffffff800fc2efff Process name corresponding to current thread (0xffffff86a38e3550): kernel_task Mac OS version: 21E258 What do you make of this - AppleMCEReporter is causing this issue with constant rebooting? semac Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Exactly this error. MaLdOn what kext is this? As the friend above wrote it seems to be a problem in version 12.3.1 all others are excellent. semac Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 (edited) Ok I will try Edited April 29, 2022 by semac MB: GA Z87M-D3H, 4 SATA 3Gb/s + 08 USB 2.0 e 04 USB 3.0 CPU: Intel Core i3 3,4Ghz HD: SATA 1Tb Sansung Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4400 Audio ALC 892 Ethernet RTL8168E Keyboard & Magic Mouse bluetooth
semac Posted April 30, 2022 Author Posted April 30, 2022 Ok I will try Edited: AppleMCEReporterDisable.kext did not resolve it. The computer no longer restarts but crashes completely and only resets by hand. There must be something else getting in the way. Also his hardware is already quite old. Quite possibly this macOS will be the last one it will support. CJW_KOREA Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Can you post a picture of the KP when in -v (verbose boot) ?
semac Posted April 30, 2022 Author Posted April 30, 2022 There seems to be no problem with the boot. The whole process runs normally. The login is done and already on the desktop, everything runs normally when, suddenly, Monterey freezes. I still notice some disk activity that suddenly stops as well. From then on I am forced to reset to the computer. Previously it restarted almost every time. After I added MaLdOn's kext it stopped restarting by itself but keeps freezing. In -v mode, the entire boot runs smoothly and in normal time. CJW_KOREA Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Please post a picture of the message in verbose... or the error that shows after you boot up again. Display the report. the AppleMCEReporterDisabler.kext along with e1000=0. and a sudo purge in the Terminal after an NVRAM reset brought my system back from the unusable/partially dead.
semac Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 (edited) Thanks CJW_KOREA. I'll try tomorrow. Here my schedule is late afternoon and I'm going to college. I'll do a fresh install of 12.3.1 on a small HD and send you the system report for you to see. Then I will try these new options you gave me. See you later. I'm using clover on 12.2. Do you think I should stay on it or go back to the OC? I'm more intimate with the last one...
