macattackjack Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 I found an OC EFI from hackintosher with the same x299 mb as mine that boots the BS Beta 4 on my Asus Prime X299-A Mobo, i7-9800X, EVGA GT710 GPU.Installer comes up, all good. Starts installing. Then quits at the 12 minute mark, and I get this screen. Not only does the computer not restart without hitting the reset button on the motherboard, but it keeps other OS on a different drive from restarting until I reset the NVRAM.I tried a few variations on the config list, but as I am new to OC, I don't want to poke around without knowing what I'm doing. But it seems to me a bunch of services aren't working properly. Also, VooDooTSCSync, was an old version that requires setting the threat count. The current version, that auto reads it, works fine.Attached is a pic of my EFI files, the config file, and a picture of what the verbose logging says when trying to shut downAny thoughts? No install.zip

macattackjack Posted August 25, 2020 Author Posted August 25, 2020 Yes. It doesn't seem to work. I just checked now, and mounted the SSD I am trying to install to, and it shows the Mac OS based system, is written to the SSD (about 14 GB), but If I try to boot in OC from SSD, it will again start installing and then quit at 12 minute mark, will not restart, and require I press the restart button on the Motherboard to restart the computer. Okay, did something differnent. I used the "install Mac OS" app on your big sur image, while in a working 10.13.6 system, and it did the same thing, it restarted after a few minutes, however this time, it rebooted and showed the "install Mac OS (external) in OC. I selected that, and now it's showing 29 minutes. I'll let you know if this completes.

macattackjack Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 Yeah, the other way, the installer creates the installer image on the new drive, but then when it reboots and starts to actually install the system, it quits after a couple of minutes.

macattackjack Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 Now, OC boot loader shows only Preboot as an booting option. If I chose that, it boots, verbose loading gets to end, then screen goes black. Trying to restart, the bios freezes and I have to start the bios in safe mode. I think it's trying to restart, but it's still not shutting down correctly, and doesn't allow my 10.13.6 system to shutdown either until I reset NVRAM. Is the easy way a completed system, or still an installer?

The Asus Prime X299-A isn't like other x299's. The only OpenCore EFI that works with the installer is the one I post above, and it works with your BS "easy way" image until the end of the verbose system booting. Then the screen goes black and nothing happens. I've tried comparing the one that's booting to your, and I don't see much difference between the config files, except for the SSDT files Kind of frustrated now.
