nonits Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 still didnt work latest send me: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=61082452111799049758 I even tried this: https://noobsplanet.com/index.php?threads/patch-wake-from-sleep-black-or-glitchy-screen-fix.19/ maybe I should give up? when I try to put it to sleep Im sure the system does not actually sleep. The display is off but there is a backlight. Pressing the volume buttons makes me hear sounds so I know the OS is active the display just doesnt want to show anything. Added in 14 minutes 52 seconds: I'm wrong sorry. It does go to sleep it just takes about a minute to go into sleep mode. the keyboard turns off and the status light changes to white which indicates sleep. the display just wont wake up after the display turns off.

nonits Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 The kext does not work but I just found something out. When I put the laptop to sleep just now I tried to plug it into the usb c dongle and the external display worked! it works on extended mode so I still cant do anything as the main display seems to be dead. Maybe when I put the laptop to sleep and it tries to wake up it cant connect back to the external display?

nonits Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 None of the solutions above work so far. I think its either I find a way to make it connect back to the internal display on wake or try different framebuffers until I find one that works. Would spoofing skylake instead of kaby and coffee lake be worth a shot? I have my dvmt set to 64mb so I should have a lot more choices for FB patches right?

nonits Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 I was thinking about that butI spent all day trying out different framebuffer settings but nothing worked. I think it what happens is that when it wakes up from sleep it cant find the internal display so it tries to use a different port instead - in my case its HDMI. I dont have any access to a displayport dongle so I cant test if it would work on DP at wake too. Im fresh out of ideas though - I mean I think how it works on HDMI after wake is a clue - I guess im just not experienced enough to use that to figure a fix out.

nonits Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 I have my dgpu disabled so when I wake from sleep and connect to HDMI im sure its going through the IGPU...
nonits Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 @MaLd0n I finally figured it out! I was able to find a framebuffer that only had one display connection so when it wakes up it does not look for a different display. Sleep is now working great. I have done a lot of reinstalls though so even if I am still using the EFI you created I have lost my trackpad and sound functionality - can you please help me get it back? nonits Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 I just checked the BIOS and im on the current one. I did not change this either from the last time it was working. Maybe my DSDT still needs re-patching after I reinstalled? Added in 7 minutes 50 seconds: all the solutions Im seeing asks me to put the kexts on L/E which I know you do not recommend...

nonits Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 I see, looks like I fixed it - I saw a thread on a forum about adding the AppleHDA.kext from Mojave to L/E. So instead of moving it to L/E I figured I should just move it to Kexts/Other and it worked There is about 30 secs delay after system starts before it starts working but I'm not complaining. I have almost everything working except for TB3 which is something I will focus on as a side project next. Thank you for all your help!
nonits Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 by the way do you have any suggestions re: getting palm rejection to work?
