inspiron 15R 5521 only HDMI output no internal screen after post

Hello,

Dell Inspiron 15R 5521.... i5 3337U, 8gb 1600 ddr3. 120GB SSD, 320GB hdd in drive bay caddy. I got Mojave to install on this laptop but it has an odd quirk. after posting and displaying the verbose logging, the internal display stops working and the HDMI out to a secondary display is all that works. I followed the step by step install https://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=8685 and used Config2.plist when i booted off of usb to install. i have the latest bios, used the notebook chipset files and have the DSDT patched and ssdt patched.

I also saw that one person in this thread had a similar issue https://Olarila.com/forum/search.php?keywords=5520

any tips on what i can replace in clover I assume to get this to work on the internal display?

should i use the clover from "with out patch.zip " from the 5520 thread https://Olarila.com/forum/search.php?keywords=5520 to see if that fixes it?

I should add that MacOS knows there is an internal display and that its 1920x1080. but when i try to extend displays or mirror the display the internal doesnt display anything but a backlight.

thanks

ok, i installed windows on another drive, then used eldim to get the edid. then i pasted the raw data into clover on the hackbook (minus the left column that shows the addresses) and had it inject it into config.plist but it didnt work. after a reboot it still will only use the HDMI out.

i even double checked that after mounting the efi partition, that clover converted it into base 64 hex and put it in the graphics section of the config.plist like i read on a site that described manually copying edid stuff into the plist.

do I have to do anything else other than just injecting in the raw edid data?

also, i was a dufus and accidentally left the mac ssd in the machine while i installed windows 10 to the other drive in the laptop.... now it has a windows boot manager partition and i have to boot to clover with a USB. i should be able to figure that one out though. but if you know an easy way to get rid of that and allow me to boot straight into clover from the SSD that would be awesome.

Thanks

ill check it out.

the 2nd question i had i already fixed..... booted into windows and used bootice to edit the efi entry on the drive from \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi to \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI. now boots into clover and i can choose windows or macos.
