Asus N580GD (Help me for install High Sierra)

Indeed, it is a rather complicated problem. I will try to install Mojave in a clean installation. On the other hand, for the AsusSMC, I just saw on GitHub that a DSDT patch was needed. Is the one I own okay to install this kext or not ?

I tried to upgrade my PC to Mojave without success. It's okay, I came back on High Sierra. I managed to fix the Fn Keys problem (and at the same time the keyboard backlighting), thanks you onemanosx for providing me with the link to AsusSMC.

I now have to solve the other problems so that everything can be operational, namely:

- The touchpad

- The SD card reader

- The HDMI port

- iMessage and FaceTime

- Sleep

- Airplane mode ? (I don't know if it's possible)

And possibly Bluetooth if possible.

I know that I couldn't activate my Nvidia card because it acts here as a dGPU and this feature is not supported. It doesn't matter, I'll do a dual-boot on Windows.

Bluetooth and wifi only works with Native Apple cards. You need to replace it.

HDMI port, you may use hackintool app. https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/335018-hackintool-v269/

iMessage and Facetime need to use real Apple SMBIOS to work.

I thought I had found the culprit. From what I understand from the screenshot, it seems that the kext com.alexandred.VoodooI2CHID can't load due to an error. I think that this error could be the cause of the problem.

(I just posted this same message on the VoodooI2C page on gitter to see if the community has already faced the same problem)

That screenshot shows problem in kext loading. This issue was not seen before this. I know you followed instructions at gitter and this happened.

I put the kext VoodooI2C and VoodooI2CHID in /Library/Extensions. I no longer have the problem of "kext failed to load". On the other hand my touchpad is still not functional and I have this in the kernel log :

Lets wait for Ben to assist you in troubleshooting. Kernel logs you posted are no different from our previous efforts (except for SSCN/FMCN error which we had managed to resolve).

I'd be interested how the problem will be solved. Especially with "initializing community.." which I have figured has something to do with newer versions of GPIO pinning method.

In the meantime we can try to solve the other problems.

For the HDMI port, it is connected to my Nvidia graphics card so it will not work. However I have an alternative to this problem, I have a USB C to VGA converter and it works very well, the display is perfectly fine so no problems at this level, my USB C port is fine.

For iMessage and FaceTime, I had tried to make them work before reinstalling macOS and I got this error code each time:

"Your Apple id "xxx@xxx.com" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time"

However, in Clover, my SMBIOS does send me an invalid serial number, which is necessary to avoid conflicts with existing devices. So I don't really know how to solve this.

For the sleep problem, when I click on the button to sleep in the Apple menu, my PC puts a black screen on me and then goes into sleep. However, it turns on again immediately after I have touched nothing. To restore the display, I have to press the Space bar to turn the screen back on.

For the SD player problem I don't know where it comes from either.

iMessage and FaceTime

For this to work, having a valid serial from an actual mac is the easiest. Then again, I only got this to work temporarily once. Now dont work anymore.

 

sleep problem

Need to check in Console for "Wake Reason". Possibly a filled USB or Ethernet is a common issue as far as I know. Yours could be different. So yeah, check from console.

BTW, if you have a bootable USB and would like to help me further "probe" the I2C issue, can you boot using these files? Block DSDT and just use the SSDT. Thanks in advance.

If you can make a backup of you EFI to the USB. Then boot directly, with these files is much appreciated. Remember, block the DSDT if any.

Dont worry about those for now since the SSDT is not patched for that yet. Our target is is I2C.
