Pluts Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 My nVidia 730 seems a little damaged, it displays artifacts on the screen, using web drivers. However, when I boot SystemRescueCD then there is no garbage on screen. Makes me think if the open source nouveau can do it then maybe I could tweak the proprietary driver. Has anyone done this, is it documented somewhere, is it even possible?

Pluts Posted November 30, 2018 Author Posted November 30, 2018 I have no clue what it is and how to use it, I'm trying to wrap my head around this but so far not much success. I wish there was "Hackintosh for Dummies" for me to read. But I figure I need to get my screen readable first, then I can move forward and start installing Clover.

Pluts Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Thanks. I read up on kext, now I know what it is and how to load them. I'm not sure though if these loaded by hand will be loaded automatically next boot? Usually, in Unix world one needs to edit some conf file to make things stick. But I'll see ...
onemanosx Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 1. Place kext in clover>kexts>other folder 2. In clover, set Inject Kext in System Parameter tab to YES This should load kext everytime you boot. Pluts Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Can't use any GUI tools, screen is not readable. I'm using CLI, I think I just managed to install Lilu ... this shell drives me nuts, why 'cd -' does not take me back for instance?
Pluts Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 OK, I'm back working on this issue and kind of giving up. I tried disabling metal but it didn't change a thing. Question. What graphics card I need to get, what works best? (I figure my onboard Intel is no good?)

Pluts Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 Thanks! There is another nVidia coming my way to replace this half-broken card I have now. When it also acts up then ATI it will be.
