tsader Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 When testing the ports it seems that I get the USB3 ports correctly but USB2 ports are always shown as hubs under EH01 and/or EH02. Not sure how I can use that. Any idea?
onemanosx Posted November 10, 2018 Author Posted November 10, 2018 It doesnt matter with EH01/ EH02. You can test by disabling kext to patch and see if your configured ports are working. tsader Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Sorry, I am not sure exactly what you mean by that. At the moment the only thing I have enabled in regards to USB is "USB Port Limit Patch ©PMHeart" I should disable that? And when I do what then? Thx
onemanosx Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 I should disable that? And when I do what then? Yes. Disable. Apple only supports 15 ports total. The patch is only a workaround to open all ports. Since there are no working patch in 10.14.1, this is why you are doing this procedure. Baptiste94 Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 What would happen if you exclude only the HS port of a USB3 port. Would it work only at USB3 speeds + remove compatibility with USB2 devices or would it make the whole USB port inoperative (HS+SS) ?
onemanosx Posted November 13, 2018 Author Posted November 13, 2018 [ref]Baptiste94[/ref], HSxx ports supports only USB 2.0 Speed. Without a working patch, your USB 3.0 speed (SSxx) ports is most likely not to be functional. This is an example how XHC device (USB ports) looks like in ioreg with a working PM Heart USB patch in 10.14. All HSxx and SSxx ports are enabled (21 ports) This is how XHC device looks like with broken patch in 10.14.1. See that there is only one SSPx/ no SSxx ports enabled (15 ports; this is expected as per Apple's design) So, to answer your question what will happen if you only remove HSxx devices? USB 2.0 devices may not work. promaestro Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Hi guys, I've done the steps mentioned in the video and still unable to detect my USB3 device using the USB3 ports. So far I've successfully "uia_exclude" and that's pretty much it. If I attached USB2 devices on the USB3 ports, it will detect without a problem. All my other USB ports are working normally apart from the USB3 ones. Please help. I need the USB3 for my Audio Interface and the fast data transfer for clients. Looking forward for your response. promaestro Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I'm sorry @MaLd0n I'm really new to this What do you mean by that?
onemanosx Posted November 24, 2018 Author Posted November 24, 2018 [ref]promaestro[/ref], You must determine your unused ports with uia_exclude boot arg. If you watched the video or read the alternate guide in post 4, you will need ioreg app and uia_exclude boot arguments must be accompanied with unused port e.g uia_exclude=HS01 This is a process where user actions is required. We cannot assist if we do not know which ports you are using or not using. promaestro Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I have done all that. Should I use uia_include as well?
onemanosx Posted November 24, 2018 Author Posted November 24, 2018 I have no idea what you are trying to do. Explain to us your port finding in detail and bootflag you are using. promaestro Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Hi guys, been trying to above guide, not sure If I have done everything wrong, I can't seem to get my USB3.0 devices to connect to USB3.0 ports. I have tried identifying each port by using USB2 device. Pic 1. Is this normal? I don't see any USB 2.0 ports here Pic 2. These are the identified ports (I connect each port using a USB2.0 device) Pic 3. Identified each connector belongs to which USB version. I'm very new to this Hackintosh community, this is probably the last piece of the puzzle for to complete my setup. Should you require more information, I'll be happy to provide more. Be patience with me. I'm all the way from South East Asia
onemanosx Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 [ref]promaestro[/ref], Using the information you had given us, you can use the boot flag uia_exclude=HS02;HS07;HS13;HS14;USR1;USR2. Reboot and post ioreg here. Explanation on identifying USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 using ioreg can be read here: https://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=66394#p66394 Donate Gitter Chat Acer Aspire V15 Nitro- Black Edition VN7-592G/HM170 Chipset Intel i7-6700HQ, 8GB RAM (UEFI Clover Catalina) MSI B360 Gaming Arctic Intel i5-8600 16GB RAM Asus Radeon RX580 8GB (UEFI Clover Catalina)
pi2in3 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 All my USB ports are detected as USB2.0(HSxx) but it has 6 USB3.1(5 type-A and one Type-C) including Rear and front. my MB is MSI B360 gaming plus How can I change theme work correctly as SSxx? also whats USRx ?
onemanosx Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 [ref]pi2in3[/ref], view video in post 1 or read post 4 https://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=65287#p65287 The below link is also a good resource for your understanding. https://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=66394#p66394 to implement your custom USB ports. USR1/USR2 is just a dummy port and can be ignored. promaestro Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Here's my ioreg results onemanosx Tried connecting my 3.0 pen drive, still not detecting. And also, I tried to look inside Clover Configurator, any of these I need to disable?
onemanosx Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 Added in 2 minutes 51 seconds: [ref]promaestro[/ref], test ALL ports again using usb 3.0 device and report back with results. Use another USB 3.0 device if you have to as some USB 3.0 pen drive is not reliable. In 10.14.1, all USB ports patches are useless. You can disable all of them. pi2in3 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 onemanosx buddy i've fallowed that video and post 4 before, you can see there is no HS23;HS13. i add uia_exclude_hs flag to boot but still all are hs.
onemanosx Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 (edited) i add uia_exclude_hs flag to boot but still all are hs Thank you for pointing this out. The correct flag is -uia_exclude_hs Edited November 25, 2018 by Guest Donate Gitter Chat Acer Aspire V15 Nitro- Black Edition VN7-592G/HM170 Chipset Intel i7-6700HQ, 8GB RAM (UEFI Clover Catalina) MSI B360 Gaming Arctic Intel i5-8600 16GB RAM Asus Radeon RX580 8GB (UEFI Clover Catalina)
promaestro Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 hey onemanosx update: 2 out of 5 USB3.0/3.1 are working and detecting my USB3.0 drive with the correct speed. We're almost there!
onemanosx Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 [ref]promaestro[/ref], HEY? Really? Show your ioreg tree. Which SSxx ports are working and which is not. Looking at your earlier reply, your working USB 3.0 ports should be SS01,SS03,SS04,SS05 and SS06. You might want to test again all your ports (both 2.0 and 3.0 devices). And since SS02 is not a USB 3.0 port, you can add SS02 in the exclude boot flag. Now that you already know how this works. You can do it on your own. Its a matter of "port elimination" to meet Apple's 15 port limitation. promaestro Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 onemanosx Finally gotten all my USB3 port working! I can sleep peacefully now and all thanks to you. Honestly facepalm'ing myself multiple times for not including the non functioning SSXX to the boot flag.
