dancaer69 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Hello, I'm trying to install Oralila High Sierra on a desktop PC with Asus P7P55d-e EVO mainboard and i7 CPU. I've successfully installed Sierra on this machine before, but with high sierra there are no disks in installer. I'm trying with orallila about a day. At first the boot was very slow(about 20 mins) and I couldn't pass the select Language screen of the installer. After I replaced CLOVER folder with the one for 5x series from here, boot was faster and I can pass the select Language screen, but I'm stuck because there are no disks except the usb flash. In disk utility I can see the disks but they appear as uninitialized. By searching I found that this maybe has to do with AppleACHIPort.kext. I found this kext in /System/Library/Extensions folder, and is version 329.50. I found a thread in another forum about this and a patch but with pure explanation. I tried to open the AppleACHIPort file with a hex editor and replace 40600200 with 00000000 (which I suppose this meant to do) It didn't make any difference, so I don't know if I did it right or if needed something more to work. Any help?

dancaer69 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Where to put those? In /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist file? And where to add them? Can you explain a little more? Thanks.

dancaer69 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 I'm using linux and geany text editor to edit config.plist. So I needed more info on what to change. There is an entry there with name "com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort" and with different values there. Also, the values you posted above, seems that need to be converted(I found this using clover configurator and add the entry and data) to "QGACAA==" and "AAAAAA==". At first I didn't change the above entry and just added a new entry with "AppleACHIPort" and these values. This didn't make any difference, so I replaced the values on "com.apple.AppleACHIPort" entry: Find RXh0ZXJuYWw= InfoPlistPatch MatchOS 10.11.x,10.12.x,10.13.x,10.14.x,10.15.x Name com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort Replace SW50ZXJuYWw= Comment External icons patch 2 Disabled Find QGACAA==" InfoPlistPatch MatchOS 10.11.x,10.12.x,10.13.x,10.14.x,10.15.x Name com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort Replace AAAAAA== With this finally the disks initialized, but there is another problem now. Disk utility fail to erase the partition and format it, so cannot install high sierra there. The disk is GPT with 1 partition in fat32 which I created with gparted on linux. EDIT: Both entries needed to fully recognize the disk. I edited the /EFI/BOOT/CLOVER/config.plist and add both those 2 patches and I managed to format the partition. Now I'm finally installing High Sierra, I hope will finish successfully

macattackjack Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Hi I have a EVGA X299 Micro with an i7-9800X, EVGA GT710, 16 GB ram. All working, start, sleep, audio USB (all ports) based on your 10.13.6 EFI. Using Clover 5108. I am getting Unsynchronized TSC errors. Using TSCAdjustReset.kext doesn't help. I've tried various MB settings, different versions of kexts. It hasn't caused any freezes that I have experienced I need a mATX MB and the ARock Extreme 4M is not available, so EVGA it is. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

macattackjack Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 I'm sorry, I didn't understand what you were asking. I've used both VooDoo and TSCAdjustReset. Both show the error, and with both the system continues to load and completes the boot This is this section of the log using Voodoo The one below is using TSCReset
macattackjack Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Also if it affects it or not, I don't remember, but MSR lock is disabled in the bios. But enabling it makes no difference. The system still boots.

macattackjack Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Wish I could. PCIe performance with audio card with same SSD same clover (different efi for boot) is three times worse on x299/9800X than on i7-3820 Asus Rampage IV gene. I had a 9900k and gigabyte z390 micro that had the same PCIe performance issue, using this same drive (different efi), and was told it was a L3 cache and PCIe lane issue with the cpu. I spoke with an guy this week with the same mb/cpu, and he’s not having the same problem. the 3820 clocks at 13k in geekbench. The 9800x at 30k. It should be better. is there anything else that could be causing the issue?
macattackjack Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) Also, it's a vanilla install of 10.13. I made a flash drive of your 10.13 system installer according to your instructions. The TSC error appears there too, and it also complains that VooDoo is too old, then freezes. I tried swapping it out with the x299 EFI and that didn't help. I had the same issue with an MSI board and 10.8 years ago. someone suggested the microcodes in the bios. I would rather not go there. lol Edited April 24, 2020 by macattackjack grammar
