Hello, I’m posting about my failed attempts to upgrade to macOS Tahoe.

I managed to update once before, but I had to roll back, and now I can’t upgrade to Tahoe again no matter what I do.

I am using latest kexts and open core boot loader aka 1.0.6

I’ve customized my EFI multiple times, and it works perfectly with Sonoma, Sequoia, and even Ventura. But the moment I try to update to Tahoe, everything breaks. I tried using the OTA updater, which worked once, but now every time I download Sonoma and attempt to update, it crashes at the macOS installer stage and completely breaks my system. I’ve wasted a huge amount of internet quota trying to fix this.

I also tried using prebuilt EFIs from multiple YouTube guides, thinking the issue might be my EFI. On top of that, I tested the raw offline installer from you guys Olarila and the Tahoe recovery image. None of them even open the installer — the system just keeps restarting before it can enter the installer.

it always restarts after the verbose scripts and idk what is the problem here I was able to update to Tahoe once now I can't and this is the 5th efi I build in 10 days

I will attach the files without the kexts so it can fit
right now I'm on Sonoma latest following the dortania guide and I still need to update to Tahoe idc about the bugs I need to be able to update to Tahoe

I have the Olarila image 26.1

At this point, I’m completely stuck.

spec

Motherboard Gigabyte Z490 Aorus ultra

CPU i7 10700

Graphics Rx 590 8gb

16gb ddr4 3200mhz XPG D60 ram

storage 180gb M.2 (non name) SSD by intel

this is a brand new EFI that also does not want to work

I know I am using bloated SSDTS I will fix them when I'm back on windows rn I am on latest Sonoma

for the info when I try to use recovery for Tahoe it shows
MAC(dmg) with a golden logo that fails to boot and restarts the pc

and New Volume (dmg) says not supported (never used to show before but always shows now even without the recovery file on my usb drive it shows when I boot Hackintosh through the SSD EFI)

same thing with Olarila offline installer (26.1) but it also shows MacOS installer with the olarilla logo also does not work

I also want to fix ethernet as I mostly use it and not wifi (I am fine with itlwm and heliport but I want ethernet for stability)

and I want to enable the boot chime (analog speakers connected to the pc from the aux jack)

also whenever I wanted to patch my Hackintosh using opcore patcher it never worked even the moded one for Tahoe to get APPLEALC working

and on the newest install of macOS (Sonoma the current one) I noticed that when the screensaver comes after 5 minutes (which is the amount of time it needs to lock the device as I ordered it) it turns off the display and the motherboard GPU debug light starts and the fans of the gpu become so loud it never works unless I restart it I never had to do this with my older Hackintosh even when I was on sequoia and in settings the display is never meant to be put to sleep at all

one last thing whenever I shutdown down or restart the device its like I am starting it for the first time most it ask me to press the buttons next to the shift buttons and every time I open specific apps its like as if I am opening it for the first time (ex. Logic Pro 11 always asks if I want to use simple or complete mode) yet anything I saved or worked on or signed in like I services stays intact

and the message of the drive wasn't initialized correctly every time I boot the device and ignore it

sorry if I said a lot of problems I am kinda new to Hackintosh debugging I always created EFIs and hopped it worked then I forgot about it and just worked like this

But I want to take it to the next level
thank you

EFI.zip

-Delete old EFI folder and paste new then empty trash. Don't use merge files.
-Don't use Drag and Drop into EFI partition. Use Copy/Paste instead.
-Reset NVRAM one time - with OpenCore use entry "Reset Nvram" / with Clover use F11 key on boot screen.

thank you so much for helping me I have multiple questions

is everything configures or should I remap my USB

installing the KDK to fix thew audio should install the latest or search for the one that is compatible with my Tahoe version

is updating using OTA from settings safe?

should I change my smbios to iMac 20.1 and if not should I regenerate a new serial number or is the one you gave me a new one if if its new I will delete this thread to keep my serial safe if no it was used before how can I change it safely

again thank you soooo much
