What is the possibility of losing my system, if I do a software update to Sonoma ?

Will I lose my working MSI GT710 Graphics or such ?

When I try to boot from a USB-stick I can't even get to the GUI-part of the setup . ():

In add. I have only a few GBs free on my main / system drive .

Is it possible to change the location, where the temporary software update / Sonoma - download / installer files are going to be saved / stored ?
