Thunderbolt Hotplug with Gigabyte GC Titan Ridge 2.0 on MacOS Ventura (Upgrade from Catalina)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So i am using a Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Pro mainboard.

I am planning to upgrade from MacOS Catalina to Ventura.

My challenge is to keep my Thunderbolt working because it is a productive envrionment and i cannot afford to have it in a non working state for more than 2 days.

On my mainboard i installed the GC Titan Ridge 2.0 in PICe slot 04.

At the moment I have Thunderbolt 3.0 hotplug working on Catalina with SMBIOS iMacPro1,1 and SSDT-Z390-RP21-SLOT4-TB3HP.aml, so i can use my UAD Apollo Interfaces.

Will this be possible to do in Ventura without having to flash the firmware of my GC Titan Ridge 2.0?

I have already mapped my USB-Ports and created a USBPorts.kext so i dont have to do it when Xhci port limit stops working.

Thanks for your help!

Greets

I upgraded the system today and thunderbolt hotplug is fully working!

I upgraded to Monterey though.

How does it work? I mean may I know the process?
