Download Mavericks from App Store

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-mavericks/id675248567?mt=12

Run this command in terminal to copy installation files to pen drive

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/"pen drive name" --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction

If you are already using Clover, the following steps are not necessary, just copy the basic kexts to kexts/10.9 and boot the installer with injected kexts (pressing the space bar)

Install Clover in the pen drive

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/files/Installer/

To use Install for UEFI motherboards the pen drive must be partitioned as GUID and depending on BIOS you may need the driver OsxLowMemFix (Insyde H2O), EmuVariableUefi (Phoenix UEFI) or OsxAptioFixDrv (all others)

To use legacy boot select Install boot0af in MBR under Bootloader and for some BIOS the pen drive must be partitioned as MBR

Select a theme

Copy the basic kexts to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.9

http://Olarila.com/files/10.8/HWSensors/FakeSMC.kext.zip

http://Olarila.com/files/10.6/PM/NullCPUPowerManagement.kext.zip

http://Olarila.com/files/10.8/PS2/PS2_Voodoo.zip (only for laptops or if you use PS/2 keyboard and mouse)

Edit the file EFI/CLOVER/config.plist with these basic settings

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Boot

Arguments
-v npci=0x2000

GUI

Theme
name of the theme you selected

SystemParameters

InjectKexts

Boot from the pen drive and proceed with the installation

When the installation restarts, boot from the installer again to finish the installation

After the installation restarts for the second time, the HD partition will show in Clover menu

Post install

Hello, I did install Maverick on my Gigabyte GA Z77X D3H/ i5 3570K/ GTX 680 using the bootable usb with Clover method.

Booting from usb for installation was supper easy but i did encountered a lot of issue trying to boot with Clover installed on my HD (blocked at boot on "waiting for bluethoot device controller"...).

It seems that it was related to some graphics issue with my GTX 680 video card, tried a lot of fix without any success.

Previously, what i did after installation was finished and in order to boot from my HD was to install Clover with the Clover installer just selecting some basic options like "install for UEFI motherboard" and no additional option... but after that i couldn't get osx to boot from my hd.

So i did try one more time installing OSX from start with Clover usb.

This time, after installation was finished, I restarted my computer again with the Clover usb.

When in OSX, I mounted the EFI partition of my OSX HD and also the EFI partition tha was present on the the Clover boot usb.

After that, I copied the EFI folder that was already present on my EFI USB to my EFI partition on my OSX HD.

After just doing this only step, I am now able to boot OSX Maverick from the HDD.

Everything is recognized and working without that I had to edit my config.plist or anything else!

So my question is: how this could be possible? What I need to check to better understand this was so easy.

I did self not install Clover using the installer, just copied the EFI folder that was already present on the usb to my OSX EFI partition.

Thanks in advance to help me better understanding my installation

Clover default settings are good for most cases, and the installer EFI partition contains FakeSMC and NullCPUPowerManagement which are enough to get the system running on compatible hardware.

You still need to tune config.plist (SSDT/Generate) and remove NullCPUPM to get power management working, and maybe fix other issues you didn't notice yet. Check the post installation link in the OP for more information.

Ok tanks for your answer.

I Read on several post that the gigabyte GA Z77x D3H and other Gigabyte UEFI motherboards doesn't need dsdt modification. Is that true ? Maybe this is the reason why the installation seemed so easy on this motherboard.

Also, it seems that I got sleep working without any issue too.

And all, my hardware seems to be perfectly recognized.

Strange, but I will still investigate and I still need to check my config.plist file.

Thanks for your support.

It's true, you don't need DSDT modification, but you need to configure Clover properly to get full potential of your CPU. You can test with Geekbench.

Com este seu método o Clover encontra o pendrive só que não da boot, quando dou o enter ele volta instantaneamente pro menu de seleção de disco do clover.

I am doing a score of 9972 point in Geekbench 32 bits now. Is it a good score?

Are you using NullCPUPowerManagement? Remove it, enable ACPI/SSDT/Generate/PStates/CStates and test again

Se não for apenas um comentário, fornece mais informações, detalhes do hardware, forma de instalação do Clover (UEFI/legacy), etc.

It seems that i don't use nullcpupowermanagement on my installation.

Also sleep is working and speedsteps.

I did try to configure config.plist several times these past days but every time it resulted to a no bootable machine.

I am still investigating

Just one more question: what is the best methode to update clover ?

Do I need to first delete the efi folder that is present on the efi partition ?

Thanks in advance for your help

I usually install to a test USB first, but I think if you just run the installer pkg you will be fine, it keeps your config.

Hello

You can only intall Clover and overwrite Chameleon, but i advice re-install system and install Clover as bootloader.

I think the best way for anyone want install Clover in normal Bios, is this:

*Choice boot0af in Bootloader option and active booting PBR;

*Install the scripts and some drives if you need

Things like Clover in ESP is only if you want Clover installed on EFI partition.

And logicaly the option Install UEFI isn't for you, because you have normal Bios.

I have a quick question. I have multiple hard drives inside my system. is it possible to install this on a secondary drive (not the one I boot windows from) and still get it to work? The reason I ask is my main is a SSD and I have limited capacity whereas my secondary has 1TB

Posted

It is possible, you just will have to choose in BIOS boot menu which HD to boot from.

Hello can I get any respond? :'(

It's nonsense, why would you do that?

You can use the dd command line tool to create a raw image of a disk, but you will get a file larger than it needs to be.

For instance, if you make a dd backup of an 8 GB USB stick, the file will be 8 GB, no matter if you are using only 5 GB.

Hey master, I have one more question.. Why your image can be precise fit .raw ? At your SL image, it's 5.5gb is there any 5.5gb pendrive sold in market? Or you shrink that image?

Because I make an image directly, I don't use a pen drive. You can use Disk Utility for that.

It won't preserve boot sectors, that's why I instruct people to use dd (or a Windows image program)

http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3736

If you restore the image using Disk Utility, the pen drive will not be bootable.

I don't have that exact version anymore but you can get some earlier versions here

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/files/Installer/

SL installer is very straightforward, use it as it comes from Apple, just add boot loader and basic kexts.
