Desperately Need Help in Getting my nVidia GTS 350M going ML

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am currently trying to get the nVidia GTS 350M video card going in my ML installation. Even as I was starting with the installation the card was a hit or miss, but if I rebooted enough times it would boot into the graphics screen (Installer/Login). My current setup is ML on a Toshiba A665 laptop with a nvidia Geforce 350M card. So far I have tried and failed with GraphicsEnabler=Y, NVEnabler64, and a rather poor attempt at working out a EFI string (did not even get close to DSDT solution, way to many errors). Your help, anyones help in the matter would be greatly appreciated. Pleeeeaaassseee I am really way over my league with this one, so help a brother out. I was not sure as to what additional information you may require so please ask and I will have it posted, I would welcome if some one wants to remote on to my computer if that helps.

My DEV ID for the card 0x0cb0

Vendor ID 0x10de

Also while booting I do see a line that reads - AGPM Controller Unknown

I currently have a fairly stable Lion 10.7.4 install running. Also if I delete the NVdan50HAL & NVDResman Kext, I am able to boot into ML but with low resolution - 1024x 768.

Thank You

PS -Hello again - I am attaching my ioreg output from a running Lion install if it helps.

I am running chameleon for my boot loader.

I have also tried using the legacyAGPM with no luck

Thank You again

Try inserting ID in kexts http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=154

In NVDAResman

<key>IOPCIMatch</key>
<string>0x0cb010de</string>

In NVDANV50Hal

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x0cb010de</string>

Cassio,

Thank for your reply, the thing is I have already tried that and it did not work for me, my problem is a bit strange in that if I keep rebooting enough times it actually works once in a while with full resolution and acceleration.

Are you using GraphicsEnabler?

If so, when it works, run the command to extract generated device-properties, then copy and paste it to Boot.plist and remove GraphicsEnabler.

Cassio,

Thank You so very much for trying to help.

Two things I want to run by you, firstly when I went in to edit the two files you had mentioned -NVDAResman and NVDANV50Hal the lines in them read -0x0cb010de&0x0000ffff - Should I have deleted the last part -&0x0000ffff ?

Secondly I had tried the EFI String before and it does not do anything for me, when you said try it with GraphicsEnabler off you meant with the bootflag GraphicsEnabler=N correct?

You can delete the rest, like I posted above.

Which EFI string did you try? I mean you should try to extract the string generated by GraphicsEnabler when it works, then disable it and insert the string into Boot.plist. I'm guessing Chameleon is having problem to generate device-properties string, but sometimes it works. The idea is to grab the working string and use it directly, so you don't have to rely on Chameleon to generate it every boot.

Cassio,

Sorry to bother you again, I have generated the device-properties.plist, kindly look at the attachment to let me know if this is what you wanted me to do. Also I inserted the properties in org.chameleon.boot.plist since I use Chameleon was that the right thing to do ? or do I still need to do it in the original Apple.boot.plist ?

Thanks in advance.

It's not correct, you should paste the hex string, not the plist.

How did you generate it? Did you extract from ioreg when video works with GraphicsEnabler?

Edit: this is how it should be

No problem.

I use as string and it works. Chameleon detects wrong VRAM in my board, so I used this trick to fix it.

Cassio,

While I still dig for a graphic card solution there are two things you may be able to help me with (please). First I noticed you have the same processor as myself ( i7 740qm), my question is if you were able to get all cores going natively that is without using VoodooTSYsync (which I have to use), if so how ? Secondly given that I have this processor which system definition should work best for me ?

My rough Specs are - Toshiba laptop - i7 740qm - 8gb ram - GTS 350M - Toshiba mother board (NWsomething).

Thank You in Advance as always.

I use MacBookPro6,2 and never needed VoodooTSCSync. I think that's a problem with some Toshiba laptops.
