Big Sur: Booting an Hynix NVMe SSD

Hi,

 

This SSD is known to be incompatible, however there are few existing patches for 10.15 and 10.14.0.

I can't boot the Big Sur installer right now because of an IONVMeFamily.kext kernel panic so I was wondering if there was a way to reuse the attached kext and the patch from 10.14 to boot the installer.

Thanks for the quick reply, I already tested this kext and I still get the kernel panic: https://github.com/acidanthera/NVMeFix/releases/tag/1.0.5

Do you know if it's possible to use an older IONVMeFamily kext like I asked?

I can try older versions, but NVMeFix doesn't fix compatibility with Hynix SSD, it's not what it's meant for. This is why I would like to try to downgrade the IONVMeFamily kext to an older version

u ncan try block original kext into s/l/e and force to load kext from catalina into efi partition. check kernel tab

I do see in Clover Configurator --> Kernel and Kext Patches a tab ForceKextsToLoad. Assuming it's in Clover EFI 'other' folder, what would be the proper path? 

/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/IONVMeFamily.kext ?

/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/IONVMeFamily.kext ?

 

Also, how do I a block a kext from s/l/e to load?

If you are willing to, I still havn't figured out how to do kext blocking. I don't think it's currently possible

if dont work in bigsur the best is change it and avoid problems
