Thank you for the quick response....I think what I'm going to ask is a stupid question, but am I updating the usb or the HD that catalina is on?....thank you again.

the best is stay with ur catalina install and test bigsur in one other ssd

okay...I will stick with Catalina.....just one thing...i have no sound..I tried mostly everything and still cant get it to work...is there a way to get this to work......
