  1. Indeed, I had to enable the ErP function and then it shuts off properly. Weirdly, Windows shuts down fine with that fuction disabled... anyway, glad we solved it. Thanx!
  2. [ref]MaLd0n[/ref], I've noticed with my build that when I shutdown macOS, the usb remains powered and the external hard drives are spinning? The only solution I found by googling was changing ports of 2.0 peripherals (mouse, keyboard) to usb 2.0 ports instead of 3.0 but my board has only combos of usb 2.00 and 3.0. Any idea that could help?
  3. [ref]MaLd0n[/ref], one more thing. With FakeSMC I used to have CPU frequency per core. Is it possible the same with VirtualSMC for my mainboard? Also Fan Control could be possible? I added SMCSuperIO.kext in my S/L/E folder but makes no difference.

This is the temperature in idle with CPU undervoltage (still stable with Vcore at 1.275 V) while being overclocked at 5 GHz, a Noctua NH-D15S cooler (single fan) and a NZXT H400 case (with only the front intake 2 fans on). Is it OK for a processor like this? The max temperature goes now up to 75 Celsius, after half an hour of Handbrake encoding & CPU running permanently at 90-100% load (and the CPU clock flat lines at 5 GHz). Also the max power draw is around 120W. Before the undervoltage (Vcore was 1.360 V) it was reaching over 95 degrees and the maximum power draw during video encoding was well over 160W.

  6. Cool! It appears everything works, including sleep (I only tested 1 minute sleep, but I will do more tests). In basic tasks I get the CPU at 38 degrees (I set all coolers on silent in bios) and the power of 14W, so I think the frequencies work as they should. Anyway, can you take a final look at my diagnostic, just to confirm that everything is OK? Hi, I finally made the build in the signature - I swapped the SSD from the old build (2700k) into the new one (9900K) and replaced the EFI with a the build here: https://github.com/markosmk/Pynty-Hackintosh-Gigabyte-Z390-I-Aorus-Pro-Wifi/blob/master/Mapeo_Puertos_USB.md I also loaded his USBmap.kext although I'd like the USB-C port to work (which he has disabled). Anyway, most of the usb ports (if not all) are still 2.0 instead of 3. Also, I dont know if the power settings are quite allright - I'd like this CPU to draw as less power as possible when idle. For the moment is not overclocked (except for the memory which is set to XMP profile 1), I'd like to be able to push it to 5GHz - the cooler is Noctua NH-D15S and the case hase two coolers exactly on it so it shoud hold. Also, you may notice that the hyperthreading is disabled, this is on purpose as audio applications work better with it off. Can you take a look at my zip and see if you can optimize anything? Video card not this year Also, weird I didn't think of checking earlier, on ark.intel.com the recommended memory for i9 is DDR4-2666, so I'd bet that my innitial idea to use Vengeance LPX @ 3000 is going to be enough for this project. Cheers for chipping in! PS: I just found an old Archer T2UH (USB) in my cables drawer, works perfectly on High Sierra and also foudn driver for Mojave so yay!
  9. Yes, I am aware. Sierra would be my favourite OS (as it's the last that is supported by my Allen & Heath audio card). High Sierra is also a good option for music production, I could do the next two years with it. Eventually I could purchase a (entry-level) comaptible ATI video card as I'm expecting this build to last the next 5 years.
  10. Thank you for getting back to me with valuable info. Your DDR is 3200 MHz. Can I run a 3000 MHz with a 5 GHz CPU? I don't want to overclock the RAM, just the CPU. Here's the thing: in audio production, the music production software can't load all cores equally (it's a fact, related to processing latency). However, this software often tends to load 1-2 cores at 99% (while the rest are at 50-60%) - resulting an average load of around 70% per wntire CPU. So I only need CPU OC, so a single core can handle a bigger load load without being overload (because if just one core reaches 100% the audio playback becomes unstable and eventually it stops). Many times, 4.5 GHz cannot playback a busy project but 5.0 GHz can. So, can I save €25 on using 3000 MHz memory? My question was if CPU OC will automatically increase DDR clock, or they are completely separate nowdays? I am currently on a 2700K desktop (and MacBook Pro) and things changed tremendously these years. I studied for this configuration (well, first I was thinking on z370 but meanwhile i9 became available at sort of decent price on amazon...) for weeks on hackintosh forums, and now I am trying to clarify some things before pulling the trigegr on the parts.
  11. Two more things: 1. Does DDR4 running at 3200 MHz vs 3000 MHz makes any difference? I'll pick the 3000 MHz version because is cheaper, my only concern being about compatibility: would it work with a 5GHz OC CPU? 2. The Fenvi FV-T919 is a PCI card, I won't have any ports available in my mini ITX build, is there any USB wireless card to work along the Orico BTA-403 bluetooth? My router is literally on my PC tower.
  12. @erroruser after very extensive research I've made up a part list i9-9900K + Noctua NH-D15s cooler (compatible with both motherboards below) Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz 2x16GB NZXT H200 (mini ITX) or H400 (micro ATX) - not sure if H200 will offer best cooling, so I'm thinking H400 will have more space for the air to move inside the case. I use a small single-fan video card - EVGA 1060 and for the future I will use the minimum for macos to work, not a fan of games/video editing, just audio workstation and 2 motherboard options - ASUS ROG Strix z390-i (mini ITX) or - Gigabyte AORUS PRO z390-i (mini ITX) Which of these two offer the best compatibility with macOS/hackintosh? I don't care too much about on-board sound, I will use USB audio card. What I want to work: power, sleep, proper CPU power management (and also to support overclock to 5GHz), USB ports, some people reported onboard bluetooth working for one of these boards, would be nice to have it for mac BT keyboard (but maybe I'm mistaken) and finally, I want the motherboard to be compatible with some M.2 adapter to WIFI card (I am not sure exactly what parts are needed for wifi to work for AirDrop, maybe you know more about this topic and can recommend a working adapter & wifi card on ebay/aliexpres)

  17. I just noticed that SendMe grabs the EFI folder from the SSD (old one) instead of the one from the USB boot drive. So I attached it here (together with the AML files EFI.zip

  19. So your opinion is that if I restore the BIOS to unpatched original ASUS version and give your clover a try again, the chances are it will work with my configuration? Just to clarify, my motherboard is the very first P8-Z68 V pro model, not gen2/3 or whatever models appeared on the market.
  20. Hi, managed to shut down earlier than planned, here is the RunMe result with your exact clover files. I booted from a USB drive. Intel Power Gadget shows the CPU at 1.60 GHz all the time, does not go to 4.4 GHz anymore. I have this weird problem, maybe other have it too: on many websites that have embedded video content (youtube, google photos, sometimes fecebook, not vimeo though) the video playback either start on fast forward either skips directly at the end of the video. In some days it works fine - I can't really tell if it could be the youtube encoding for certain videos that work and a different encoding for the ones that don't. Also IINA video player (based on mpv/ffmpeg) sometimes plays only the audio of the video I am trying to watch, freezes video at first frame and progress bar stays at 00:00 - while audio plays normal. Any ideas? HS10.13.6, i72600K, asus p8-z68 v pro (first gen), nvidia 1060
