Haven't been able to get Olarila image for a while. I reinstalled and immediately put in EFI Partition then it froze. Rebooted and it is up and running ... for the moment. I will see how long it lasts ? I am afraid to tweak things too much for fear something will break. So I don't need to do any kext updates and just let it roll? Yes, it was formatted as APFS. On a lark I rebooted and it went through the final bit of asking name and password and I have a desktop. But I clicked on safari and did a search and it froze. That is the farthest I have gotten with this mobo! Do I need reinstall again?

Used 1.0.9 and it did install without purple lines, but when it was doing final reboot it panicked and the usb drive just kept blinking. ? panic.jpg.zip

I have tried another guide and it was a bust as well. I got a different monitor and used DVI and it failed earlier and still got the purple lines. Last time I noticed that there were some odd boot args showing. Previously I had asked about the difference between copying your EFI to the USB versus installing Clover on to the USB. Apparently that makes some difference. So I reformatted the USB and reinstalled Catalina and just copied your clover over. I tried with some different BIOS options that made it worse. Now I am wondering what affect they are having and how it influences Clover boot and install. Of Note: When I do the install, I am always getting the grey square pop up before it switches to the Apple and timer bar before it goes to the first install screen. Also how many times can/should I completely reformat the drive and reinstall? Restarted machine and chose install from Mac. It started up the second phase. Did second reboot on its own. Then apple and status bar goes to 100 and then long install. Then doesn't do the reboot and I restarted and it did final install and then reboots to the same screen with the grey square. What am I doing wrong? What could it be? Is the latest bios screwed? Is 15.4 not a good install to try? Could it be the old monitor?

It is interesting the variations that work for some people and not others, and it is the same motherboard. I have tried 3 other guides, including an open core with no success whatsoever. Are you suggesting a different video input, switching from HDMI to DVI? I will try that later tonight.

Hello MaLd0n, I disabled internal graphics and tried to boot into system and had same results. I also enabled CSM and same thing. I started another reinstall and same weird color thing so I stopped.

Hi All, I have Gigabyte Z390 Designare with the F9b bios, Sapphire Pulse RX 580, i5-9600K, 16GB G Skill RAM. I am trying to install 10.15.4 using the EFI provided on a 500G WD Black NVME SSD. I can get past the first two reboots, but when it comes to the final, I get a weird black screen with an off-center grey square. The one thing that I notice is that there is a line about loading AGDP* and when that hits I get some purple lines on the display. I have done that recommended BIOS settings, also turning off VT-d. I am a very new to this, and MaLd0n got my first one working so easily. I don't know what is happening in the final boot. I would think, being new, that if it made it past 2 reboots it should work? Also the boot times are slower than on my i5-7600K using a Samsung NVME SSD (that I couldn't use in the slot) but works when on a card. Does anyone have any sage advice, bearing in mind that I am not someone that could figure out how to generate patches on my own? How in the world do you know all this? Do you have hardware vendors send you stuff? I see I should have gotten the SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 250GB from another post. So, I could put Linux on it and use it in a card, then get the 960 and use CCC? You are just absolutely amazing for all your support!!!

OK. Had old windows lying around and updated the firmware. Installed in the M2 slot and used CCC. Added Clover folder. Reboot. Selected it in bios boot. Don't really see a speed difference Am I missing something?

Crap. I don't have windows!

Bios is already at highest they have. What else can I update?

Yes, I tried adding the nvme driver to my Mac and it had it rebooted after a few minutes after starting. I tried adding it to the Catalina install disk and it would start up and then would not finish the apple logo before it panicked and restarted. And that was with nothing except the the RX 570 card. I don't know enough to twiddle beyond that. I did see stuff about io hacks but it seemed to say it wasn't needed for Catalina.

Howdy, I am trying to instal to NVME drive and it constantly has kernel panic in preboot stage when it shows 11 minutes remaining. I can install Linux without issue, so I don’t think it is the drive. I originally had install on SSD working fine. Tried using CCC to clone to NVME and it would panic as well. Half the time when I try to erase the disk it will panic as well. I have unplugged everything from the system and still face issues. Does anyone have some suggestions? Thanks

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I think I followed that the first time, then saw all the utilities that were included and thought I should mess with them. That is where I completely screwed it up. I did a fresh reinstall and didn't mess with anything and it is working flawlessly. I don't understand why some boards are easy and others are nightmares. As always, you are amazing!

There are so many things I don't understand! On my drive there is a /EFI directory that has default files. I know it is not used, and it isn't a remount of the EFI partition. That has always puzzeled me. Next, I tried the Mirone HDA patch and that was strange as well. It said put the kext in /S/L/E, which I did. It also said, to my understanding, that I had to patch the DTSD. It said do it under HDA. You had put in a new key with your patch, which I commented out. I also said put the dummyHDA in EFI/Clover/kext/Other. I aslo dragged config to Mirone patcher and it put other keys in there. All of this resulted in no drivers at all. I also don't understand the difference between the ACPI options to add Nvidia and HDMI versus the boot option to nvda_drv=1 and the Devices option for inject HDMI. I had checked them, but since there isn't a real nvidia driver out, I am unchecking them for this RunMe to see if it works. The wiki indicates that I should select UseIntelHDMI for either intel or nvidia hdmi. The logs sort of show there are both present? I also don't understand the Clover/ACPI/origin section. I did the SSDT_Automator and generated the SSDT which I put in the patched directory, but what are all the origin SSDT-*.aml versions? Should I have checked Drop OEM in the Clover Configuator SSDT section since I generated one? The wiki indicates clover will do it automatically? I believe the patch said don't select the generate p and c states. I am keeping the InjectNVidia on the Graphics section. All of the Kernel and Ketxt to patch sections seems like it wasn't used before. It means nothing to me. In the kexts/Other there are ones that I am not using. Currently I have aDummyHDA, AppleALC, AtherosE22000Ethernet, EFICheckDisabler, IntelMausiEthernet, Lilu, RealteckRTL8111, USBInjectAll VirtualSMC, VodooPS2Controler, WhateverGreen, XHCI-200, XHCI-300 I am going to remove Atheros, Realtek, and Voodoo. In Clover Kernel and Kext Patches I am going to try a force of \System\Library\Extensions\AppleHDA.kext I think part of the HDA Patch process added values for the KextToPatch section. In running through things I noticed in clover configurator there is a section where there are match expressions to previous versions, and not 10.14? And also when I tried to look at my cpu my dictionary was a mess.... I suppose it is valid because it is running, but it didn't look like your post. Again, you are the most patient person I have ever known for tirelessly answering questions!

Hello Again, I did a fresh install of Mojave using the Olarilia files. I have copied over your files and it is up and running, just without sound. I am trying to go through the HDMI to a jack in the monitor and it doesn't see it. Previously I had upgraded from beta to production version, and periodically it would work (which is weird). I am not sure if I did the Nvidia inject correctly in clover. I did run SSDT_Automator and moved file over, but some of the other utilities are confusing. Thanks, Loren Send me Lorens-iMac.zip

If I followed your guide for High Sierra and had a wonderful system, except couldn't get sound 100%. On a lark I did the upgrade to Mojave, which was flawless. Does the update leave a lot of cruft on your system, or should I really do it from scratch?
