Thanks for the link Mirone. After we edited the previous node from 13 to 15 for dv6 series...my audio works just fine ...but HDMI video/audio just wont work. Any idea how I can get that to work? Another thing that CodecverbsCheat file is missing ...link does not display ...that is one file I can't find anywhere. Can you please re-upload. Thanks for your help.

Hi mirone, no problem, with our efforts I learnt a lot... especially the graphviz part. Please can you give me the link for your guide...I will try. PS: I have managed to get my ATI 6490m EFI recognised in 10.8.3 following bcc9's method ... will be tweaking the hex parts in a day or two. But still no HDMI out Your link would be appreciated.... thats the only problem I have...no HDMI audio or video out from laptop.

Ok well, so in the interim I updated to 10.8.3 INtially everything went well, but now 1) Lost audio in headphones. Speakers work correctly. 2) USB no longer works. 3)HDMI well ..it didn't work before either. Before I use to boot with -v only. -f meant no audio and no usb. but now even -v won't help. Hi Mirone, sorry about replying a bit late. Was very busy with my moms surgery. So, with the edited DSDT you gave me and the kexts, I have just used them for a few days now and everything works. I still don't know if the external mic works on the line in, but the Dictation app shows line in as automatic and I think it does work. Now, I have brightness increase using Fn+Right shift (pause) key, but no brightness reduction Can you tell me how to edit the DSDT for that. As for HDMI, I will test tomorrow morning and post back. For the reasons mentioned above I have not been able to do much work with my machine. I however did get Clvoer EFI up and running. Only problems I had with it was the imessaging app and well Windows 8 just hangs when I select it ...with anything connected to the USB ports.

However, previously with sound working after I modified the kext, I got "sound assertion in line 17274", and now it is "sound assertion in line 17351" However, the result is the same. Internal mic works but I have no idea about Line In. I doubt it works. output sound ... only testing these statements sound can be HDMi because of the sound .. but if it works do not have to bother with that. ok, I didnt quite understand it but I thinke you mean that output sound is what we should be checking right? Output is working completely now. HDMI I will have to check will connect to TV today and see At present most of the stuff seems ok. will post back after testing. PS: Whenever I open my DSDT.aml I always get those same errors which you must have encountered. But if I open the .dSl file, its not there. Only with .aml file. Weird.

@Mirone, CAn you please tell me what changes you made to my DSDT. Would just like to know.

@Mirone. Hi, sorry for the late reply. Was fiddling with Clover. Here is the link for all my files.http://www.sendspace.com/file/kd0cmf Now I am no expert at DSDT editing, so its the bare minimum I can get. I have brightness fix working but only [Fn+Shift(pause)] works to increase brightness ...no decrease Ok, I accidentally did something so had to roll back quite a few of my kexts from original 10.8. Now, it seems the audio just worked simply by changing the nodes. I didn't need the snb.kext from the other link. Lucky me? I don't know. but till around 20 mins ago I had no audio! weird. I would like to report however that with Clover efi.... I get complete audio only with the edited node id. Don't know why, but I had only set kext injection as yes for HDA and added the AppleSNB fix from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/282787-clover-v2-instructions/ Also here is a screenshot of my Midi setup .... the Input just shows Default. I have no idea if input is owrking except for the internal mic .Line In = ??

No problem, will send it soon. Its 12.30am here...so I will attach everything tomorrow. Oh and, I was playing around with this stuff and ended up using multishit again. IT seems, selecting the USB rollback causes kextcache creation to break. I had to rollback usbattachedscsi.kext too. Now I can't boot in. except for safe mode. Will fix it tomorrow. Hope this works out for us. Still searching for an Atheros 9285 for probook series. You won't believe what a pain hp spare part guys here in my country are.

@Mirone, Hi, I tried out hte kexts and here is the result. Applehda.kext ...works but only with Layout id changed to (0x0A). However, only internal speakers have sound and it ignores all other jacks.... no other input or outputs. Applehda1.kext, 2 ..... no sound. Applehda.kext3 and kext4 ...kernel panic. Ok here is the fun part which is why I was late in replying. I get full audio with your kext in which I modified the node id to 15... But, it will only work if I use the AppleSNBGraphics.kext from here.... @Mirone. I don't know what has gone wrong but, around 4 restarts(shutdown and start up) later, I am back to square one.. Sound only through internal speakers now... everything worked fine until I got "SNB frame buffer did not show up unload" in my last line while booting up. Any ideas? IT worked perfectly albeit only for a while..so close.

EDIT I got audio working!!! All I did was to change the node id from 13 to 15in platforms.xml and now audio out is working. Whats working: 1) Internal Speakers 2) Line out 3) Aux line out (r whatever the 3rd jack is) PS: Does this jack also serve as a line in? I don't know thats why. 4) internal Microphone is working. 5) I have no idea if the Line In for microphone is working. IT does not show up in the system preferences and neither does it record. I checked the internal mic by recording some audio. But I don't have a mic so can't test the Line In. Now it would be sweet to get line in working for use in Logic. I hope we can solve this last hurdle. I have seen many people having this issue with DV6 series and have started a thread over at tony. Thank you for your help and credit has been given in the thread. I hope you will help me out with the last hurdle and that is external Line in. Once again thanks for your help. @Mirone, Hi, sorry couldn't reply earlier, was down with high fever for the past few days Okay, so I tried the attached kext... here is the summary of what has happened. 1) After boot up, the volume icon remains greyed out, no sound from Internal speakers. 2) Built-in microphone is detected. 3) if I connect anything i.e. speaker or headphones to line out- then the icon becomes black, and there is sound 4) however, if I take out the pin from the lin out jack, no more audio 5) external line in not detected at all. I wanted to know one more thing, what verbs are we supposed to use from verb it? the orig or modified ones. Also do I need to inject the verbs via DSDT. @Mirone. Hi, was wondering since you haven't replied to my previous post. The kext you provided me didn't help. I lost all audio. I did a little mroe digging and when I changed my node id in Platform.xml from 13 to 15, I got audio from IntSpeakers!!!! However, now I have lost audio from Heaphones and Line out jack + my Mic jack and internal Mic have also stopped working I have attached all my files a few posts back. Please do help me out.

@Mirone I tried adding some nodes according to my codec graph, now all I get is a transparent icon in the menubar and "unknown" in all my sound settings. I have attached the edited kext if you need it. http://www.sendspace.com/file/x4zrse
