HDAUniversal report — CX8070 on Lenovo ThinkPad neo 14 (post in Olarila topic 46593)
Hi @MaLd0n,
First of all, thank you for HDAUniversal — the driver loads and works remarkably well on my machine, but I get no audible output. Reporting with full logs attached.
System info:
Codec: Conexant CX8070 (CodecID 0x14F11F86)
Machine: Lenovo ThinkPad neo 14 (21DN, Intel i7-12700H Alder Lake, HDA controller 8086:51C8, subsystem 17AA:509E)
macOS: Tahoe 26.7.2 (25G332)HDAUniversal-Test-Logs-2026-11-08_19-00-35.zip
Bootloader: OpenCore
Kext installed in /Library/Extensions via the official PKG: YES
layout-id tested: 15 and 21 (both via alcid boot-arg), same result on both
Problem description:
kext loads, codec is verified alive, and all audio devices are published correctly (Internal Speakers, Headphones, Internal Microphone, Line In).
IOAudio engines and streams are published, sample rate runs at 48000 Hz.
However, there is NO audible output on either Internal Speakers or Headphones (volume at max, not muted, correct output selected).
Input side (Internal Microphone) appears present; I did not verify recording.
What I found in your shadow diagnostics (may help):
HDAUniversalShadowRoutePin17Disagrees = 1 (PreferredSource=2 vs SelectedSource=1)
Pin16: LayoutScore=693 vs CandidateScore=1383 — the live-scanned candidate scores much higher than the layout data
HDAUniversalShadowRouteMode = ObserveOnlyNoAdditionalVerbs
So it looks like the built-in CX8070 layouts 15/21 (ThinkPad E590 / E14) don't match the pin routing of the ThinkPad neo 14.
One more observation that may matter:
ACPI shows SNDW@40000000 under HDAS with two SoundWire children (SWD0@5d071100, SWD1@5d071100) — possibly SoundWire amps or DMIC. In Windows the audio stack is "Senary Audio" (Conexant + DSP effects) on the Intel Audio Bus.

I can provide a Linux/Clover codec dump if needed — just tell me. Happy to test any test build. Thank you!
