Thanks both of you I don’t understand why there are different hard drives in the same product but Ok So the result is, that I cannot install MacOS in any way on my Book 3 right ? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Do you also have an Samsung nvme drive? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Hi @MaLd0n, do you have an idea, how it could be, that I have trouble to format my hard drive within the MacOs Installation? I use an EFI wich was provided here by MetalChris87 and we have both the same Laptop. On his laptop everything is working on my not (troube by formating the hard drive or booting into 'MacOS Installer' will cause a crash and rebooting loop). Any idea?

This sounds logic. Could it be, that the storage driver is different for my device (why ever) Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Hi @MetalChris87, yes, every time I try to install I completely erase my hard drive via ubuntu and format it to fat32. After that I start into MacOS installer and format there to apfs. (Here I have mostly trouble, because within the formatting it happens that the book freeze and restart) After that I try to install MacOS with the result described above.

Unfortunately this is the same behavior like with your Ventura EFI [emoji17] I already choose a lot of different edits and no one worked for me so far. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Hi @MetalChris87, I took your updated EFI folder and tried the installation process with that. The installation process is now starting and running again to 10 min before finish. Then the book is restarting and, on the boot, I can see the "MacOS Installer" Boot Entry. On that the progress bar is filling up to the half of the bar and then I came into boot loop. Is this in the current EFI state expected?

Sounds great, Thank you very much. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

I don’t know what exactly you mean with booting. I created an usb stick to install Sonoma on my book and added your EFI folder there. I can boot into the installer and start installation. But this crashes at the point where 10 up to 15 minutes left. Than the book restarts to installation process again. This happens independent from -x boot-arg Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Hi @MetalChris87, I added -x to boot-args in config.plist. Everything looks and works like before.

Hi @MetalChris87, Thanks again for sharing your EFI folder. Unfortunately, it also not works for my surface book 3. And I couldn't figure out so far way I have such a big problem with that stuff. With that EFI and a cleaned drive, I can start the installation. as far as there are 10 to 15 minutes left the installation crashes and my book restart. Is there any way to log something there or figure out on another way what's going wrong here?

Sry if it sound a little bit dump but I don't know what to do with that link.

Hi @MetalChris87 , If I use Montery and your EFI folder my screen is everytime freezing after some time and I don‘t know why and if the process is still running in background or not. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Thanks, I already tried it some time ago but will do this evening again, hopefully with more luck. By the way, SFB 3 has no USB 2 ports Do you just use the 3.0 ones or did you do something specific to get it run? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Thanks for helping. Without -igfxvesa I get this error Share With -igfxvesa I can run the installer, format the SSD and Start first installing step. At "12 minutes remaining" my SFB 3 crashes and restarts. In OC is no entry "Install MacOs" only "Reset NVRAM" and "Install Ventura (external)" I don't have USB2.0 Ports on my surface book so I used an 2.0 port on my ThunderBolt 4 Dock

Hi there, Thank you for this Forum. I try since 3 weeks to bring up MacOs Ventura on my 13" Surface Book 3 with i7 with dGPU. I tried a lot of different EFI's, also such ones from this forum, but anytime without success. After I wrote the raw image on my USB2.0 Image and put for example the IceLake-Mod EFI from this Forum on the stick, I can start the Installation process without issues. I can format the SSD (most times I need more than one tries to erase or create the partition / storage stuff because within the process, the SFB will power off and then on again and maybe the work wasn't finished!). As far as the SSD is created on the right way in APFS I can choose it with the installer and continue. Then the first installation step is running and will work until there are 12 minutes remaining. Then the SFB normal shutdown and restart. After the restart I get the "Install MacOs" entry in OC an can choose that. The 2. Installation Process will start with something linke 29 minutes remaining and here I get the problem. This step will break after different amount of time. Sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 30 minutes and sometimes it count's down the minutes but show no progress in progressbar and then show forever "Less than a minute remaining". What could it be I'm doing wrong?
-
Has someone an idea, what can go wrong in second install phase if bar is not moving, but time counter decreases? The bar stops at 1/4. After waiting an half day with countermessage "less than a minute remaining" I think there is also nothing working in background.

So it seems like I could solve the flickering / black screen issue on my SFB3 13 inch with dGPU, by adding the boot argument '-igfxvesa'. <dict> <key>SystemAudioVolume</key> <data>Rg==</data> <key>boot-args</key> <string>-wegnoegpu -igfxblr -igfxcdc -igfxdvmt -igfxvesa</string> <key>csr-active-config</key> <data>AAAAAA==</data> <key>run-efi-updater</key> <string>No</string> </dict> What ever this mean for the devices and installation process. But this results in an permission error in the first installation step, my case. Edit: permission problem solved by complete ereasing the whole storage again. Now I'm back in restarting loop

Hi, No still searching for a solution. The difference I found so far is that I have a 13inch model not the 15inch. So far I still try to get it up and running. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Hi @MetalChris87, Thanks for taking care. Tried it with the EFI one you provided in second post and as well with the basic IcyLake-Notebook one but nothing worked. Also the command line argument you provided doesn't worked for me. The only EFI's which seems to work so far to came into the setup mode stable is the original one in the Olarila Ventura image (without replacing). The IcyLake-Notebook one and the IcyLake-Notebooke-Mod one (you provided) will fail before the installation screen can be loaded. The Surface book one from your first post works sometimes, most times is the installation screen black of flickering. But even with this one the first step breaks up 12 minutes before finishing, and then running into a booting loop. Tried also to connect in first installation step to WLAN (maybe this helps) but I couldn't connect to my WLAN. What I'm doing wrong?
-
Hi @MetalChris87, first of all Thank you very much for sharing this short introduction for Surface Book 3. And another big thanks to the whole Olarila community. I followed your steps to install Ventura on my SB3. First problem i got is, that my screen is flickering / black in installation step often times. Some times this not happen and I can see the screen like expected to install Ventura. I tried to solve that by disabling the dedicated GPU in BIOS but without success. My Second Problem is, that I came into a reboot loop within the installation process. Can you help me with that problems? I toke the current 13.5 Olarila Ventura raw image and copied it with etcher to my usb-stick. After that I replaced the EFI folder with you one. I also already tried Monterey and Sonoma beta but both with same problems.
