Hi again @MaLd0n, turns out it wasnt the usb causing the freezes. Had more trouble after thinking it was fixed, but then started freezing again. Finally figured out that it was to do with the gpu. Patched the platform id to 0x3E980003 instead of 0x3E981003 and freezes are completely gone. It's working amazing now. Thought I should post here incase anyone else is having the same problem. Been such a headache getting this one stable, but it's definitely a beast now it is! Thanks again for all your help mate.

I've tried it with three different ones. One powered usb2, one passive usb2 and one powered usb3. Happens with all of them. At least I know now though so it's not freezing anymore.

@MaLd0n Finally figured out what the problem was. If I plug a usb hub, doesn't matter if it's usb 2 or 3, into any socket, it'll freeze within half an hour. I've tried to see if it was one device but it seems it's the actual hub that causes the usbs to completely crash, meaning I have to hard boot. Tried it with 3 different hubs and the same thing happens, even with nothing plugged into them. Any ideas why that is? Tbh, it's working now with no hubs plugged in, so all good, just not sure why the hubs are making it crap out?

No not solved unfortunately. Still freezing, less but still freezing. I'm going to roll back the bios to f8 see if that makes a difference. The only other variable is the ram. I've got 4x16gb vengeance 2400. I ran rembr but didn't see any problem. Will try bios now.

Hey @MaLd0n, don't want to speak to soon, but think I've solved it. I found a post on another forum with someone that had the same problem. They removed all their boot args and got rid of the freezing. Only arg I had was alcid=1, removed it and... no more freezing. Obviously lost onboard audio but I don't need it because of usb audio. Makes sense as when it was freezing I was getting sample rate errors and then anything usb / audio was locked out. So yeah, fingers crossed its solved. ______________ Spoke too soon. Still freezing. Will try Mojave.

Yeah, I've physically taken the built in board out. Man, this is annoying. I'm going to try and rebuild the motherboard before I reinstall. Might be a bad connection somewhere. If that doesn't work then I'll try Mojave.

Gonna try Mojave now. It's weird because everything carries on when it freezes, all the apps that are open keep going, it's like there's nothing wrong, but anything that's usb just cuts out. Tried unplugging everything that's usb then plugging back in but it doesn't make a difference. It's like the usb gets locked out. Fingers crossed it's just a Catalina issue. Will let you know once reinstalled. @MaLd0n what are you using for bluetooth, just the onboard?

No joy unfortunately. Still freezing. So annoying. Might try reverting back to Mojave today. Thanks for all your help though!

No overclock, tried turning xmp off too, seems a little more stable but still getting the freezes. Wifi is Fenvi 1200. Main difference is I've got 64gb of corsair vengeance, but it's only 2400. Don't think that will be the problem though?

I think it might be something to do with usb. When it happens, my audio interface resets its sample rate, then get errors saying usb devices aren't recognised. Basically anything that's usb seems to reset, but it freezes the whole system. Don't know whether that's any help.

Here it is @MaLd0n. When it freezes the mouse and keyboard go dead, and I get some errors in logic about sync, the graphics still seem to work in the background. Any usb keyboards etc are also dead.

Hey @MaLd0n, I'm still getting the freezes. It's happening randomly when I'm using Logic. Any ideas what's causing it? yeah, I've already tried. I select it in accessibility, but it doesn't make a difference. Weirdly can't deselect it either, the tick is just stuck on. I've managed to save a copy of the IOReg though, that any good to you?

There's something wrong with the install I think. Getting IOReg dump error with run me, just keeps going around and around. Might have to revert back to Mojave, try again.

Yeah, I've spent the last two days trying to find any new patches. Using the Pike R. ones, but not sure if the Hex's need changing? Started reading about Hopper Dissasembler, but its way beyond me Found if I add the PMDrvr kext, the utilisation drops back to normal, frequency isn't at full any more, but still seems a bit erratic. Is it just a case of waiting until new patches show up you think? Also noticed that sysctl machdep.xcpm.mode is returning 0. Not sure why?

I'm getting power management problems after updating to this from Mojave. Cpu is running at full frequency and utilisation constantly, was fine in Mojave. Any ideas as to where I should look? Asus Sabertooth x99 5820k

Yeah, I tried two different ones. Also the ports on the front of my actual computer aren't working either. All USB 3. Doesn't make a difference if the HD is usb 3 or 2. Weirdly if I plug into my keyboard, which is connected to the hub, hd is recognised. Think it's something to do with the USB 3 limit. Any clues as to how to fix?
