apply a windows patch, use "linux way" in this case

What is this "linux way". Could you share a link?

I think I need it on my laptop, too.

Hi, thanks for detailed and useful tutorial

I managed to boot my CoffeeLake 8700K and 5700XT but have no Audio, in System Settings/ Audio all sound effects are clickable but no sound from Internal Speakers, only buzzing sound, please help.

Mostlikely the Layout ID of your Audio device is wrongly set. Please google it out how to look up the allowed Layout ID of your Audio device and set it in the boot args line: alcid=1 (by default) or alcid=# ("#" is the allowed Layout ID).

Thank you for the info, I have already solved that problem following Olarila guide: https://www.olarila.com/topic/6074-guide-easy-audio-solution-with-applealc-clover-and-opencore/

But in general I think this method is still not perfect, applying the same method to my laptop with Realtek ALC1220 codec, I had different allowed Layout ID's to test so I tested them all, the only one which worked better was Layout ID 21 so I added alc=21 in the boot args, only this Layout-ID could make my laptop speakers and microphone function, all others Layout-ID's had something not working.

Whats happening now is that I still don't have sound sometimes, even if sound effects are showing normal in the "System Preferences/Sound", sure it doesn't happen very often but it's there, every (approximately) 10 times I boot my laptop the 11th I don't have sound, to fix it I have to reboot again, (strange thing is that it never happen to the microphone, only to speakers).

Somewhere I read that set "Reset HDA" will help but I know that in Clover not in OpenCore, after all it doesn't bother me and I'm OK with it  :)

Hi MaLd0n,

My Big Sur installation is working fine from the .raw file and I've used the resources folder to amend the boot them which is fine and boots well although I would like to hide unwanted boot screen icons like NVRAM, Preboot, Recovery, etc. and add my Windows OS to the boot screen but my Windows OS doesn't have an EFI that I can mount with OpenCore Configurator and can't add the bootmgfw.efi as I cannot find the PciRoot address for the windows drive and boot file.

Is there any way to add my Windows OS to the OpenCore boot menu without the Windows OS being installed as GPT UEFI?

Attached is my current boot screen.

Thanks.04135857.png.zip
