SOLVED - Intel Designare/Intel 630 black screen issue - need UHD

Hello

I have an Intel Designare Z390 motherboard and latest BIOS. Catalina 10.15.2. It comes with an Intel UHD 630 internal display adapter which I have spent days trying to get working at UHD. It only displays at 1280 x 1024 (I'm aiming for UHD), and it only works if I inject the Intel graphics card in clover. Right now “About this Mac” reports Intel UHD Graphics 630 5mb.

If I do not inject the Intel graphics card it comes up with a black screen or garage (5 vertical lines). I am using HDMI. I am aware this is a common problem.

I’ve also got an Nvidia GeForce 1070 which I hope is disabled (obviously not support for this).

What I have done:

* Tested HDMI display under Windows 10 - it works under full resolution.

* Tried to change the port to HDMI with various tutorials using Hackintool etc (turning off Intel Injection), whatever I try it’s a black screen.

* BIOS is set up correctly.

I enclose clover folder which contains a config.plist configured to spoof the intel card with injection and this works out of the HDMI port at low resolution. The issue is when I stop spoofing Intel. There is also a file in the archive that has a list of kexts in my library/extensions folder. There is also a file with the startup log (verbose mode).

I also have an ioregistryexplorer log, too large for these forums, you need to download here:

Please note I tried the below guides and posts, I think it’s been 3 or 4 days now of rebooting lol. I’ve been non stop googling… I am going crazy. I guess I’m asking to be baby spooned somewhat so please help!

And if you can see anything I’m doing wrong otherwise in my config please let me know. I think I’ve cleared up quite a bit and everything is up to date (hopefully).

Thx very much!!

I am still using the last config.plist I posted above, however here are some example config.plist's I've tried that don't work.

Also my graphics card details is as below (taken via GPU-Z via Windows). Don't forget I have a Geforce 1070 I'm not using (not compatible with Catalina).

Thanks.

I may be closer.

I tried Displayport connections - no use.

I decided to Remote Desktop into my Designare PC tower using my laptop to see if I can get in. In low res modes (which is spoofing Intel) I could, as explained earlier I can boot fine this way. So I went back to trying to get this working under UHD via HDMI (removing Intel spoof).

Most of the time I could not get in with Remote Desktop as it was crashing (not a port issue then). After trial and error with Hackintool and clover editor, without Intel spoofing, I’ve managed to stop it crashing, specifically this happens now:

1) External display is always black, and HDMI is turning on and off all the time (I assume the HDMI signal it just polling on and off every second).

2) The Remote Desktop session appears to be showing a UHD display! However it is blinking on and off similar to what is happening in (1), but at opposite times! Unfortunately this blinking means it’s impossible to log in.

It’s like they are fighting each other? (No idea what this behaviour really means).

Well that’s better than crashing outright isn’t it? And I’m seeing UHD for the first time… so I call it progress - a little. Not crashing, guess it's either ports or maybe the external NVidia card is trying to take over?

The file below is the config.plist that exhibits this behaviour.

Any comments please?

You can’t tell me I’m not trying LOL!

Thanks.

OK it works! (Mostly) with config.plist posted

I needed to set the monitor to HDMI 1.4 rather than HDMI 2!

The Intel UHD630 and Gigabyte Designare motherboard and my monitor can drive HDMI 2 however under Windows 10, so I need to work out how to do this with Catalina.

config.plist does have from hackintool this entry but it's not working:

enable-hdmi20

Working config.plist attached and system report for display below.
