Olarila HackBeast Z390 DESIGNARE - Thunderbolt - Full DSDT patches - CLOVER - OPENCORE

Hey there, I have a very similar setup to yours however I am having a hell of a time getting it up and running.

SPECS: i9900k 8 core CPU, z390 Gigabyte Designare, 64GB - DDR4 3600 Preditor RAM, Sapphire VII GPU, EVO 860 1TB (Start up), EVO 870 pro 1TB Cache, NZXT Kraken Water Cooler, EVEA 750 3G, Fenvi FV-T919 wifi card, Fractal Design Meshify C Case

Full disclosure - I had a this system up and running (with some help) for 7 months with some bugs, but then I had an extreme kernal panic and wasn't able to get it to boot.
So I have followed your instructions the best I could from this thread https://tinyurl.com/vm7j6zn and I have also followed your instructions the best I could from this thread we are in here.
I am an extreme N00b who doesn't understand a lot of (most of) the science behind. Right now this I am under complete Covid Lockdown in Sri Lanka and I need to get back up and running asap.
I am more than happy to donate but wanted to check with you first to see the best way to rectify this situation.

Currently Boot is stalling HERE: kextd stall[0] (60s): 'AppleACPICPU' and I am unable to get into the OS and when I am in the OS The computer will not Shutdown (it restarts when I try to execute shut down)

What I had done (which results in above issues):

  1.  Successfully Made a USB Install image and successfully installed OS on 1 TB Samsung 860 EVO
  2. Changed all the setting on the MOBO BIOS as you list in this post. (However I did change some other setting 7 months ago and not sure where they where or if that is causing issues)
  3.  Installed Clover, installing all of the drivers and such that I could find in this current version of Clover.
  4.  Downloaded and replaced the Clover EFI folder with yours for this MOBO / processor
  5. HAVE NOT done anything with OpenCore as I don't understand if that needs to be done if I am replacing the CLOVER EFI folder.

Right Now as I need help I thought I wold start at the beginning so I am currently re-Installed the OS from your Mojave Image and have not installed clover or switched out your EFI folder.

Ill await your thoughts. thx.

Gonna try Mojave now. It's weird because everything carries on when it freezes, all the apps that are open keep going, it's like there's nothing wrong, but anything that's usb just cuts out. Tried unplugging everything that's usb then plugging back in but it doesn't make a difference. It's like the usb gets locked out. Fingers crossed it's just a Catalina issue. Will let you know once reinstalled.

@MaLd0n what are you using for bluetooth, just the onboard?

Yeah, I've physically taken the built in board out. Man, this is annoying. I'm going to try and rebuild the motherboard before I reinstall. Might be a bad connection somewhere. If that doesn't work then I'll try Mojave.

Hey @MaLd0n, don't want to speak to soon, but think I've solved it. I found a post on another forum with someone that had the same problem. They removed all their boot args and got rid of the freezing. Only arg I had was alcid=1, removed it and... no more freezing. Obviously lost onboard audio but I don't need it because of usb audio. Makes sense as when it was freezing I was getting sample rate errors and then anything usb / audio was locked out. So yeah, fingers crossed its solved.

No not solved unfortunately. Still freezing, less but still freezing. I'm going to roll back the bios to f8 see if that makes a difference. The only other variable is the ram. I've got 4x16gb vengeance 2400. I ran rembr but didn't see any problem. Will try bios now.

@MaLd0n Finally figured out what the problem was. If I plug a usb hub, doesn't matter if it's usb 2 or 3, into any socket, it'll freeze within half an hour. I've tried to see if it was one device but it seems it's the actual hub that causes the usbs to completely crash, meaning I have to hard boot. Tried it with 3 different hubs and the same thing happens, even with nothing plugged into them. Any ideas why that is? Tbh, it's working now with no hubs plugged in, so all good, just not sure why the hubs are making it crap out?

I've tried it with three different ones. One powered usb2, one passive usb2 and one powered usb3. Happens with all of them. At least I know now though so it's not freezing anymore.

Hi All,

I have Gigabyte Z390 Designare with the F9b bios, Sapphire Pulse RX 580, i5-9600K, 16GB G Skill RAM. I am trying to install 10.15.4 using the EFI provided on a 500G WD Black NVME SSD. I can get past the first two reboots, but when it comes to the final, I get a weird black screen with an off-center grey square. The one thing that I notice is that there is a line about loading AGDP* and when that hits I get some purple lines on the display. I have done that recommended BIOS settings, also turning off VT-d.

I am a very new to this, and MaLd0n got my first one working so easily. I don't know what is happening in the final boot. I would think, being new, that if it made it past 2 reboots it should work? Also the boot times are slower than on my i5-7600K using a Samsung NVME SSD (that I couldn't use in the slot) but works when on a card.

Does anyone have any sage advice, bearing in mind that I am not someone that could figure out how to generate patches on my own?

Thanks!

* just saw another post about this and will try adding a dict entry and see if that changes anything. Also added a BlackScreen patch and see if both will change it.

Hello!

I tried this to no avail:

				<key>Comment</key>
				<string>Prevent AGDP from loading</string>
				<key>Disabled</key>
				<false/>
				<key>Find</key>
				<data>
				ugUAAAA=
				</data>
				<key>InfoPlistPatch</key>
				<false/>
				<key>MatchOS</key>
				<string>10.13.x,10.14.x,10.15.x</string>
				<key>Name</key>
				<string>com.apple.driver.AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy</string>
				<key>Replace</key>
				<data>
				ugAAAAA=
				</data>

Here is image of screen color and the line about AGDP where it occurs, and the Lilu forcing rebuild. I have sent a previous picture of monitor on final reboot.
