PlexiPuter Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 How do I get my i7 8700k showing up as a Xeon in OpenCore? On Clover, it was 0x0A05 in CPU type but I can't seem to get this to change from i7 8700k in OpenCore.

savage001 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Does anyone have a guide as to what needs to be done to make Windows 10 boot from OC? I get a acpi bios error when trying to boot windows from OC but boots fine for UEFI boot menu but i would prefer to use bootloader (wife friendly) Laptop - MacBookPro15,1 - Metabox Alpha - Realtek ALC269 - Intel Core i7 9750H- 16GB DDR4 - Intel UHD 630 - DW1820A - Windows 10 - macOS Catalina - macOS Big Sur

PlexiPuter Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) I've now tried OC with just the SSDT's and also with just MaLd0n's orig DSDT's that he made for both my Z370 and H270. Everything works better with MaLd0n's DSDT's. I've been running a bunch of hacks for 10 years, and they've ALL been with the help of MaLd0n's amazing grasp of all things ACPI. Many thanks to MaLd0n! Hope you're well, and much appreciated Edited April 16, 2020 by PlexiPuter mistake 1

PlexiPuter Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 What I've ended up doing on OpenCore, is making sure the DSDT I'm running on, is fully renamed. Then, I put SATA and IGPU in a Kaby and SATA, IGPU, and HDEF in a Coffee, in as a patch, but I set it to rename just the table SSDT's. Rename only seems to work on generated tables in OC. This seems to be the best I can make these two machines run on OpenCore, but they're running spot on! I know the OC manual states against renames but I didn't put OSX on a Pee Cee to run windoze myself

PlexiPuter Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Yep. I like the idea of having eveything working from the DSDT.
Shahzad Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Hi Maldon, I am trying to replace Clover with Opencore, I have used your Clover EFI and Dsdt , it has been working perfect. But when I try to boot with the Opencore Efi , it stops at "AppleIntelLpssI2CController::_serviceMatchingTimeSubr: fTimerServiceMatching timed out," and It flashes waiting for Root Device then scrambled screen. I didn't change anything from your EFI folder and was using Opencore as legacy. My Laptop supports UEFI but somehow Mac won't boot on UEFI with my battery in. Same case for clover and Opencore.

Shahzad Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Actually I had some issues 1. Clover takes long time to boot, around 1min or so, and tried to clean it up to make to faster but anything I remove, breaks it so tried oc. 2. My laptop microphone doesnt have proper gain, like I can only hear tapping on the microphone, nothing else. I tried to use some guides to patch it platform.xml files but failed. like this one- https://github.com/F0x1c/AppleALC_Instructions/blob/master/README.md 3. And I always wanted to use Uefi but didn’t know untill trying to work with opencore that its Mac, not the bootloader thats the issue.
