MSI Leopard Pro GP70 2QF Laptop

I7-4720hq

Had a custom DSDT made a while back on this board and works fine with Mojave 10.14.6.

Been trying to upgrade it to Catalina if possible. Downloaded the install file from the AppStore and it installed but having issues with the laptop.

Any help would be appreciated. The Runme.app will not run. Keeps retrying on IOREG Dump for some reason.

What is working:

Ethernet works.

Hit FN+F6 and webcam comes up.

What is not working:

Cannot boot without USB drive

Sound

Wireless/Bluetooth

Intel HD 4600 graphics

Trackpad and laptop keyboard (having to use a USB mouse and keyboard)

Finally managed to install!! Merging a bunch of different clover folders and trying so many options in clover configurator...
This olarila image really helped me! Im so glad I found this board, thank you very much!

I tried updating the clover but every one I try keeps telling me that cannot be installed and gives me the option to try it anyways. And that never works.

Also which kexts need to be updated? I have tried finding new versions of Lilu, AppleALC, Whatevergreen, the Broadcom one, etc and still have same issue.

It gives me this error:

This package is incompatible with this version of macOS. The package is trying to install content to the system volume. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Then gives me the option to Quit or Install Anyway. Install Anyway doesn't work either.

NO matter what I do I can't get this to work. I have done a backup of the working Mojave numerous times and tried using the backup to get Catalina to work with no luck at all. So frustrating.

I couldn't attach anything so had to up them to another site. These are the bootleg and the EFI folder.

I did try installing Clover 5103 and it gave me the same error about incompatible. tried installing it anyways and no difference.

I'm trying to boot the installer using the High Sierra image provided on the following platform:

Asus Maximus VIII Gene
i7 6700k
Nvidia GTX 980ti

It's known to work, and I provided my own SSDT for the cpu (one of the many attempts at getting it to work). I am getting stuck at "kextd stall: AppleACPICPU". FakeSMC should be working, I get the "DMOS has arrived" message correctly.

I don't have access to a working mac install to try and copy the AppleACPIPlatform.kext suggested in various forums. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I tried setting the SMBIOS to MacBookPro11.1 as well, but it didn't help either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hey MaLd0n,

thanks for replying so soon! The installer went through after 20 minutes, I was able to boot into it and then install the OS. What wasn't clear from the instructions is that I needed to prepare the installer with the EFI folders for the specific chipset in my case I needed to put the kexts from from the 100/200/300 intel chipset series! Once I did that booting from the image is fast and almost everything worked (I needed to copy the IntelMausi.kext from the default image over with the other ones).

I have only one problem now, when I'm installing I have no option to select the APFS filesystem and guid type (only Apple extended..), the result is that once the system is installed I don't get an EFI partition on the target install hard drive, guess I need to figure this out now!
