We are pleased to announce the official release of MounterPro, a modern macOS menu-bar application designed to quickly detect, mount, unmount and open EFI System Partitions.

MounterPro provides a clean and practical interface for managing EFI partitions from internal disks, external USB devices and mounted disk images without requiring Terminal commands.

The application is especially useful for OpenCore and Clover users, Hackintosh technicians, system administrators and anyone who regularly works with EFI-based boot configurations.

Main Features

MounterPro automatically detects EFI System Partitions available on:

  • Internal SSDs and hard drives

  • External USB drives

  • External SSDs

  • Removable storage devices

  • Mounted disk images

Each detected device is displayed in a dedicated card containing useful information such as:

  • Device name

  • BSD disk identifier

  • Total device capacity

  • Internal, external or disk-image classification

  • Main filesystem type

  • EFI partition name when available

  • Current mount status

  • Associated disk-image filename when applicable

One-Click EFI Management

Each EFI partition can be managed directly from the MounterPro menu-bar interface.

Available actions include:

  • Mount an EFI System Partition

  • Unmount a mounted EFI partition safely

  • Open a mounted EFI partition in Finder

  • Refresh the complete disk list

  • Monitor the current operation through an integrated progress indicator

After a successful mount operation, MounterPro automatically opens the EFI partition in Finder.

Mounted and unmounted partitions are visually differentiated, making their current state easy to identify.

Internal, External and Disk-Image Support

MounterPro is not restricted to the primary macOS disk.

It can identify EFI partitions belonging to:

  • Internal macOS disks

  • Hackintosh boot disks

  • Windows disks

  • Linux disks

  • External OpenCore or Clover USB drives

  • Installer media

  • Mounted disk images

Disk-image devices are clearly identified inside the expanded interface, including the name of the associated image whenever available.

Compact and Expanded Views

MounterPro offers two interface modes.

Compact View

Provides fast access to the essential device information and mount controls while using minimal menu-bar space.

Expanded View

Displays additional partition details, including EFI partition names, complete disk identifiers and disk-image information.

The selected interface mode and preferred popover dimensions are preserved between launches.

Intelligent Disk Detection

Disk enumeration uses structured macOS diskutil property-list information whenever available.

A validated text-based fallback is also included for environments where the structured response cannot be processed correctly.

MounterPro validates each candidate before presenting it as an EFI System Partition. This helps prevent unrelated FAT partitions or incorrectly identified volumes from appearing in the interface.

The application also monitors disk changes through macOS Disk Arbitration and automatically refreshes its state when devices are connected, disconnected, mounted or unmounted.

Optional Privileged Helper

MounterPro includes an optional local privileged helper that can be installed after explicit administrator approval.

Once installed, the helper allows EFI mount and unmount operations to run without repeated password prompts.

The helper:

  • Accepts only mount and unmount operations

  • Accepts only validated EFI System Partitions

  • Revalidates the selected disk immediately before every operation

  • Rejects unexpected commands and invalid disk identifiers

  • Uses a restricted local sudoers rule

  • Can be installed or repaired directly from the application

Installing the helper is not mandatory.

Without it, MounterPro continues to work normally and macOS requests administrator authorization only when required.

Safe Unmounting

MounterPro uses the normal macOS unmount procedure.

It does not silently force-unmount a partition when the standard operation fails. This reduces the risk of interrupting active disk operations or causing filesystem corruption.

Any failure is reported directly in the application instead of being hidden.

Start with macOS

The integrated Start with macOS option allows MounterPro to launch automatically when the user logs in.

Login-item registration uses Apple’s official ServiceManagement framework.

Depending on the macOS configuration, approval may also be required under:

System Settings → General → Login Items

Menu-Bar Integration

MounterPro runs as a dedicated menu-bar application and does not occupy unnecessary Dock space.

The interface includes:

  • Native menu-bar icon

  • Dynamic popover sizing

  • Compact and expanded modes

  • Automatic disk-state updates

  • Refresh control

  • About and Help panels

  • Integrated Quit control

  • Standard Command-Q support

The menu-bar icon also preserves the position selected by the user through macOS.

Notifications

When notification permission is available, MounterPro can display local notifications for important operations, including:

  • EFI successfully mounted

  • EFI successfully unmounted

  • Optional helper successfully installed

No notification information is transmitted outside the Mac.

Performance and Reliability

MounterPro performs disk discovery and mount operations away from the main interface thread to keep the application responsive.

This release includes:

  • Asynchronous disk enumeration

  • Targeted refresh after mount and unmount operations

  • Automatic refresh after disk events

  • Operation cancellation support

  • Explicit subprocess timeouts

  • Bounded command output

  • Safe process termination

  • Protection against outdated asynchronous results

  • Prevention of overlapping operations on the same disk

  • Deferred full refresh while privileged operations are active

  • Controlled Finder-opening behavior

  • Swift 6 strict-concurrency validation

  • Compiler warnings treated as errors

These protections improve responsiveness while avoiding abandoned processes, stale disk information and unnecessary repeated scans.

Security

MounterPro applies multiple validation layers before executing a privileged disk operation.

Security measures include:

  • Strict BSD disk-identifier validation

  • EFI partition revalidation before every privileged operation

  • Verification of the selected parent disk

  • Rejection of symbolic links in privileged paths

  • Ownership and permission validation

  • Restricted helper command protocol

  • Transactional helper installation

  • Rollback when helper installation cannot be completed safely

  • No execution of arbitrary user-provided shell commands

  • No forced unmount fallback

The privileged helper and sudoers configuration are installed only after explicit macOS administrator authorization.

Privacy

MounterPro:

  • Does not collect user information

  • Does not upload disk information

  • Does not include analytics

  • Does not sell or share data

  • Does not contact an update server

  • Does not transmit EFI contents

  • Does not store mounted-partition information remotely

All disk detection and EFI operations are performed locally on the Mac.

The PayPal and Email controls only request macOS to open the corresponding external link or default email application.

System Requirements

  • macOS Ventura 13 or newer

  • Intel or Apple Silicon Mac

  • Universal x86_64 and arm64 architecture

  • Administrator authorization may be required for mount operations

MounterPro can be used on both genuine Apple computers and Hackintosh systems.

Installation

  1. Download and extract MounterPro.

  2. Move MounterPro.app to the Applications folder.

  3. Open the application.

  4. Click the MounterPro icon in the macOS menu bar.

  5. Select the desired EFI partition and click Mount.

  6. Optionally install the privileged helper to avoid repeated authorization prompts.
