I think it is just for getting the most out of your hack.
Is it necessary? Not at all.
But if you want, you can have that benefit.

I'm a donor and I say, it was the best thing I did regarding my hacks, but anyway I always used the forum files and the hackintosh never gave any problems. Look at YouTube, most people don't know anything other than the OpenCore manual, but they're there making a lot of money.
