folktt Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Hello, I'm having a problem with a newly created Hackintosh. When I connect an external HD, it takes a long time for it to appear. Approximately 5 minutes or more. And after that, Mac OS starts to freeze if I try to open the external HD and perform other activities. The cursor icon keeps spinning forever. Then it stops freezing and comes back again. Without the external HD, everything works normally. The HD is 100% healthy, in exFAT format. It's a 2.5" 1TB HDD. I tested 3 USB cases, and the problem occurred in all of them. I tested the 3.0, 2.0 and front ports, and the problem persists. I've tried a lot of things to find a solution, but none of them have been successful. I don't know what else it could be. Can anyone help me? I'll leave some images of my Hackintool, and I'll make my Config.plist and EFI available. I'm very grateful for the help! System: Sonoma 14.6.1 Motherboard: Biostar H510MH 2.0 Processor: Intel Core i5 10400 Graphics: Radeon RX 560 4GB Disk: SSD 480GB Sandisk I only have my Keyboard and Mouse connected to the USB at the time of capturing the image. folktt Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 In many searches I found several people complaining about the same problem, including on native Macs. Apparently it is a problem on Sonoma and Ventura to read external HDs in EXFAT format. So I formatted the external HD to APFS format with Guid partition, and everything is perfect now! To mount it in Windows I am using Paragon HFS.
