asapreta Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Hello Guys! I have downloaded twice both Mediafire and Torrent Olarila Sequoia images but can't create the USB boot drive (I using a 32GB USB Flashdrive) as usual in Balena Etcher. Balena Etche reports an error while validating the image, about a compressed file to check the source. Tried to boot that image and really confirmed the installer can't proceed due to invalid files. Has anyone experienced that too? Thanks in advance, Hacks: Main: Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X - Intel i5 9400F - 16 GB DDR4 2666 - Radeon RX 570 4GB - Tahoe 26.0.1 Backup: Gigabyte EP-45-UD3R - Intel Core2Quad 9550 @4.0Ghz - 8 GB DDR2 - GeForce 9800GT - Sierra

Matt Kent Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Maldon I have tried for weeks (literally weeks now) to get a stable Sequioa system on my Gigabyte Aorus Pro. I'm going to explain my symptoms in the hope that someone here can help me get to the bottom of this, or I might pay you to help me resolve my system as I need it both for work and for music. Symptoms: Random crashing for no apparent reason Sometimes when I reboot the meter goes exactly halfway across the screen and the system does not boot (requires reset NVRAM and sometimes takes me three or four attempts to get back into OSX). In other words, sometimes boots sometimes doesn't. Appears to happen when I copy files from one drive to another Crashed yesterday trying to update UAD software Crashed regularly when trying to mount EFI Attempts to correct Tried enabling/disabling VT-D. Ran stably on 1.0.2 then I updated OCAT to 1.0.3 and it would kernel panic after about 3 seconds after the picker (white line for three seconds followed by constant reboot cycle). Also updated my kexts to current versions. I then accessed the EFI on another Ventura install I have attached on another SSD and weirdly it seems to have reset my EFI back to previous kexts (i.e. did not seem to take the update). I also have not been able to get ethernet working. My Maple Ridge card is mapped and working on my ventura install but not yet tested. Need stable system first. This morning, I made some changes to the Bios and AGAIN... as soon as I did this I had the white meter going slow to exactly half way again and kernel panic. Seems to happen whenever I make a bios change. Question: Do I need to reset NVram after a bios change? Hardware: Gigabyte Aorus Pro X Z790 (Rev 1.0) Intel i9 14900K chip Onboard wifi card removed - Replaced with Fenvi T919 (working see below) Crucial T705 NVME 1TB (was £200 as I wanted the fastest machine I could buy) - for my main OSX drive (and Logic Pro/Music installation) Crucial P3 1TB - Data drive Sapphire Radeon RX570 4g Corsair Dominator Ram 32g x 2 (64 gig total) Gigabyte 850 PSU Thunderbolt Maple Ridge (I also have two Thunderbolt Titan Ridge cards and one is flashed for mac, bought on Facebook and confirmed as working in another machine) I have custom mapped the ports and created a customised AML file based on the Titan Ridge base AML downloaded from this site). I am yet to test this in Sequoia and not my priority right now as the system is unstable. Universal Audio Apollo Twin X (connected with a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter to the Apollo 16) Universal Audio Apollo 16 (connected directly to Thunderbolt card Philips 1080p screen BIOS Settings: CSM Support - disabled Secureboot Mode - Standard (no way of setting it to Other OS in my BIOS) VT-D - Currently enabled but I have also tried disabling and I seem to have better stability with it on. Pls confirm if this is not recommended SATA - no way of setting as AHCI in my bios but when SATA is attached seem to be profiling fine XMP set to XMP 1 - for full use of my 6000 on DDR5 Intel default settings were on 'Extreme' but I have now set it to disabled (but left XMP at XMP 1) to see if this improves things No other overclocking features set. Platform Power Management - Disabled SR3 Save Mode - Disabled Rest of power set at defaults Initial Display on PCIE 1 Slot Internal Graphics - Disabled PCIE Bifurcation Support - Auto Onboard Lan Controller - Disabled (as I couldn't get it working) Audio Controller - Disabled (as I am using HDMI audio on my PC screen for now and want my UAD to be my main audio interface) Above 4G Decoding - Enabled Above 4G MMIO Bios assignment - Enabled Re-size bar support - disabled IOAPIC 24-119 Entries - disabled Thunderbolt configuration - All enabled (became visible in my bios when I installed windows on another drive and read elsewhere this was necessary, to get the Thunderbolt card seen by Mac) Serial Port - disabled Legacy USB Support - Enabled XHCI Hand-Off - Enabled VMD controller - disabled Fast Boot - Disabled Windows 10 Features - Enabled CSM Support - disabled Boot Arguments (under NVRAM line 3) alcid=12 -lilbetaall watchdog=0 dk.e1000=0 e1000=0 npci=0x3000 -wegnoigpu -ctrsmt EFI + Plist (attached) I successfully installed Sequoia using an external SSD in a caddy using your modded EFI from here (but unstable obviously). Attached. My current EFI is on Opencore 1.0.3 SMBIOS MacPro 7,1 Lilu - 1.7.0 VirtualSMC - 1.3.4 Fenvi installed with AirportBRCMFixup, IOSkywalkFamily, AMFIPass, IO80211FamilyLegacy RestrictEvents 1.1.5 WhateverGreen - 1.6.9 USBPorts (and associated AML files) - Custom generated USB map with Hackintool (15 ports only) Bluetooth, Wifi, Airdrop are all working. But having tried so many times to get the system stable, but it still crashes and is continuously hard to get to boot. Maldon, any help would be gratefully appreciated!
