Dell Optiplex not recognising bootable drives [Succeded]

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi, I've recentrly found an old Optiplex 990 with an i7 2700 and I would like to install big sur or monterey if it is possible to this machine, obviously with a dedicated gpu I bought. The problem is that when I made the usb installer with the EFI folder, the PC does not recognise the drive in the UEFI boot mode although it does in legacy mode but it does not work in that mode. I made the installer many times and trying other vanilla images and USBs I even tried a SSD with macOS preinstalled alredy but it does not recognise it. It only works with Windows drives. Please help me.

Fixed, I switched to legacy boot and did all the necessary changes to the EFI folder to make it work. Now it is running monterey very well
