Mavericks 10.9 on Dell Latitude e5420

Hi everybody, i'm french, i'm writing this post in english, and i'm not really confortable.

I have installed Mavericks on my dell latitude e5420 (http://www.dell.com/...titude-e5420/pd)

I used the method "myHack". If you know this method i need to modify the extra folder

In my extra folder i put:

dsdt.aml

SSDT.aml

org.chameleon.Boot.plist

smbios.plist (Macbookpro 8.1)

In my extra/extensions folder i put:

AppleACPIPlatform.kext version 2.0

AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.3

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext version 216.0.0

AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext version 8.18.27 (modified to enable VGA)

AppleKextExcludeList.kext version 1.18.0

AppleSmartBatteryManager2.kext version 1.29.1

BCM5722D.kext version 2.3.5

DisableTurboBoostBattery.kext version 1.0

FakeSMC.kext version 5.2.798

In complement i use "hw monitor" with this sensors.kext in

FakeSMC.kext/contents/Plugins/ACPISensors.kext

CPUSensors.kext

GPUSensors.kext

I don't put and i don't try LPCSensors.kext with Mavericks ,because on ML it's cause boot problems.

VoodooPS2Controller.kext version 1.8.8

VoodooSDHC.kext version 1.1.2 (modified to enable in plist)

After the install, the sound doesn't work, and i have a lot of "doublons":

I need to erase this kexts file from my sytem/library/extensions

AppleACPIPlatform.kext version 2.0

AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.3

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext version 216.0.0

etc, the same in extra folder

I replace AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.3 to AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.2 in extra/extentions folder

I use "myhack", run my fix, quick.

I reboot my computer, and the sound work.

Now i put back the AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.3 to replace AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.2 in extra/extentions folder

I use "myhack", run my fix, quick.

I reboot my computer, and the sound work with better quality (i think, if you want, you can keep AppleHDA.kext version 2.5.2)

Now this results:

Does audio work? - YES, Integrated micro(both) doesn't work

Does HDMI work? - YES

Does VGA work? - YES, with AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB modified

Does HDMI Audio work? - YES

Sleep works, that's confirm - YES

Does it sleep and wake when closing and opening lid? - Closing: YES, opening: YES

Screen brightness is controlled by Fn+Pause and Fn+F3 or Fn+up and down button - YES

Audio control is by the right side - YES

Keyboard backlit is controlled by Fn+right arrow - NO

Screen snapshot is by Fn+PrintScrn - NO

Fn+F1 for sleep - YES

tab power button to wake - YES

wireless card - NO i'm using "HoRNDIS-rel5" with my android phone (cyanogenmod)

ethernet - YES

Card reader - YES

Good hack.

Un dernier mot en français, soyez patient, ne restez pas buté sur un problème. La nuit porte conseil, c'est à dire se reposer pour mieux recontruire votre hack.

Excuse me but we don't give support to Myhack tools or any All-in-one.

other thing, your kexts are in E/E, since 10.7 all kext need be in S/L/E(i think myhack doesn't know about this)

Another thing, you have many unnecessary kext...

I recommend install with our image bootable, ready to boot(isn't distro, it's retail)

Remove all those kexts.

YES Myhack install Chameleon as boot loader.

You need to understand this first:

When i use Myhack method, i put the extensions in E/E

I run "myhack.app", it create "myhack.kext" in S/L/E, in the content it place all extensions from E/E

But if i don't want to use Myhack method, I use Kext Utility to put extensions in S/L/E, before i delete "myhack.kext" in S/L/E and all extensions in E/E

Now i can explain this below:

When i install FakeSMC Without plugins

Run HWMonitor.app you can see only the hard drive temperature

When i install FakeSMC With acpi plugins

Run HWMonitor.app you can see the hard drive temperature, a new thermic area, and the most important the battery

When i install FakeSMC With acpi and cpu plugins

Run HWMonitor.app you can see the hard drive temperature and a thermic area, the battery and now alls CPU temperature and frequency

 

The CPU coefficient is 25, the frequency 2,48GHz, it is the max for the moment, because turboboost doesn't work.

Now to enable the CPU turbo boost i add this kext:

DisableTurboBoostBattery.kext

if i use NullCPUPowerManagement it doesn't work, it work with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement

Look HWMonitor now:

 

The CPU coefficient up until 30, the frequency 2,97GHz, because turboboost work now.

Pay attention, it's work for me because i have edit a correct DSDT.aml and SSDT.aml.

Why many post to same goal?

So put FAkeSMC+necessary plugins.

You don't need kext DisableTurboBossBattery...

I recommended the NullCPUPM until you have power management, then you have to remove it

To activavte power management you need:

*SSDT generated by pike's script

*patch AICPUPM

*DSDT(if you want, but is recommended)

*DropSSDT=Yes(activated in org.chameleon...)

*C e P States=No

*Remove NullCPUPM

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement Already in S/L/E natively, the AICPUPM given by Myhack doesn't work 100%, you must use the AICPUPM that came with the system installed

I removed NullCPUPM

I keep AppleSmartBatteryManager v1.29.1 instead the original v161.0.0 (it doesnt' work)

The cpu work fine, turboboost is enable.

The problem, when I send the laptop to sleep (all commands work: fnkeys, lid off, etc) it turns off but when i turn on the monitor wake with black screen.

I don't know to fix it, i try sleepenabler, but i have kernelpanic, perhaps i need to change something in the dsdt

One more problem, when i have a vga display plugged, if i want to change the resolution, the vga monitor change to black screen, in sytem preference i can still see it. I have not this problem with hdmi display.
