Hey its me again with another device for my girlfriend.

Its a T460 Thinkpad. i7-6500u w/ igpu. I downloaded Skylake EFI folder and applied, this gives Kernel panic.

I then updated notebook BIOS and switched macOS from Monterey for Big Sur image; same result.

Then I used this EFI from GitHub which loads the installer, but aborts after about 15% of the loading bar with apple logo to block sign (attached).

On all EFI experiments I added SMBIOS "MacBookPro13,1" since this is closest to actual CPU.

(in GitHub repo they use custom BIOS firmware but im not confident to brick device :P)

However, I followed BIOS Setup given in Github closely

Quote
Menu     Setting
Config USB UEFI BIOS Support Enable
  Power Intel SpeedStep Technology Enable
    CPU Power Management Enable
  CPU Hyper-Threading Technology Enable
Security Security Chip   Disable
  Memory Protection Execution Prevention Enable
  Virtualization Intel Virtualization Technology Enable
    Intel VT-d Feature Enable
  Anti-Theft Computrace Disable
  Secure Boot   Disable
  Intel SGX   Disable
  Device Guard   Disable
Startup UEFI/Legacy Boot   UEFI Only
  CSM Support   No
  Boot Mode   Quick

I attached the files I used. Github EFI is 50MB so cannot upload but is same as here except ProductName field;

after nvram clear boot order was cleared too so there was a windows boot

efi boot after windows boot gave;

Quote

Lilu patcher:@ failed to solve _ZN31AppleIntelFramebufferController17ISTypeCOnlySystemEv, err 2
WhateverGreen    igfx: @ TCCD: Failed to route the function IsTypeCOnlySystem.
Generation from SM

i cleared nvram again and directly gave boot drive override without save and that gave exact same kernel panic as shown above.

I also might add this notebook does NOT offer ANY usb2 ports ?

i try to find dockingstation, this might have some -.-; will give update on this..

Using USB2 on Dock gives same loop of about 40 lines where these hex values are aligned to each other in following format

Quote

0xffffffa06bbbbbbbaa12 : 0xffffffa06bbbbbbbaa12

followed by an block about "Kernel Extensions in Backtrace" with some dependency mentions.

Im writing this because i didnt notice such graphically outstanding printout on any successful boot before.

this repeats like 3-5 times until the shown above "IOPlatformPanicAction" block halts the boot.

Hm i tried all ports on notebook and dockingstation, then i tried using usb2 extension cable to "cut" out the extra usb3 lanes but still these images appear.

Can u talk about what do u mean with external?

I really must have already created some of the most retarded questions on this site…

It instantly worked, im installing now, im really curios how many drivers itll do out of the box since notebooks are an adventure…

Thanks, again!

youre very correct :D

i didnt test much yet but builtin keyboard, trackpad and wifi are still not working^^

I remapped ports, EFI attached below, could you work your hw-acceleration-magic again?

Also, for the specific components, the following repo claims to enable everything for monterey and since were on big sur, can we just copy paste?

It kernel paniced again, i removed usb drive and cleared nvram,

now its IsTypeCOnlySystem error again

ohh and booting without lenovo dock consistently gives kernel panic; maybe ditch the dock completely in the further process (dont need it really - would hav to re-do port mapping i guess)

EDIT: leaving it for long enough and it continues, but results in another type of kernel panic…

So, initial stuck: https://imgur.com/a/LbHSqO3

Any tips on how using new efi if cant boot > cant mount partition? ->fixed using initial installer usb drive.

Using ur EFI-2 "everything" works, even without dock!

Remaining, known issues:

Trackpad has some issues, no matter which button I try to use, its always registering as middle mouse Botton; no primary/secondary click possible.

WiFi but I acknowledge this hardware is just unsupported, ill try get some usb wifi dongle with macOS support so don't break ur head about it please :)

Bluetooth doesnt show any error, but notebook and iphone cant see each other.

Audio: Hackintool shows "Realtek ALC293", but macos MIDI Tool has no output available.
