Looks like the problem is

SMC:smcReadKeyAction ERROR: kSMCReadKeyComm/kSMCReadKeyWithSMCComm failed for key REV (kSMCSuccess)

I don't know why it happens most of times on some hardware, but sometimes it doesn't happen and the system starts.

Maybe you'll be better with 10.8.4, look my torrents on TPB.

I don't know if there is a fix. Actually it works fine on most machines.

I have no idea if 10.8.4 will work, you have to test. Both versions work fine on all machines I have tested, but some new hardware are having problem with those SMC errors.

Okay i will try 10.8.4 then :(

Ok. Will try it

No success :(

I could not even get to the installation:

Kernel Panic on AppleCPUPowerManagement - replaced by NullCPUPowerManagement

hung on AppleSMC - replaced by FakeSMC

Everything else (including -x -f options) failed same as before - in gray screen with Apple logo and rainbow waiting cursor :(

Deleted ATI* NVDA* and AppleIntelHD* kexts from USB flash - gives no difference

Last string I saw is again [iOBluetoothHCIController][start] -- completed

Posted

After deleting video kexts you must boot without caches (press space bar on Clover or down arrow key on Chameleon).

I install OSX on the hard drive then I boot back into the usb (tried clover and the other bootloader) and there is no option to load OSX from the hard drive its just says to install OSX from usb, I have tried it multiple times...

Posted

Didn't help :(

Still [iOBluetoothHCIController][start] -- completed or gray screen right after this phrase and rainbow cursor...

Using 10.8.5 USB I was able to start installation at least. But it was always unsuccessful - in couple of minutes before end I'v got KP and immediate reboot (I could not even catch the reason of KP)

Using this 10.8.4 USB installation do not start at all...

If I understood correctly I can use only 10.8 ML series and up because of Ivy Bridge CPU...

Hi,

I can't seem to reach the installer. When I access Clover I have only choice to Boot Windows on Legacy Drive. What do I do to get to the installer ? Booting Windows seems to freeze too.

Is there anything to do with the EFI Shell ?

Thanks

Try Chameleon, boot legacy and press 1 when you see the blinking cursor.

I already tried it and Chameleon also give me the option to boot NTFS Partition. Is there à way to force the media ?

Please help.

I'm getting this KP (see image) and think it might be CPU related?

I've tried everything I know of (booting with -v -x GraphicsEnabler=No) but can't get past this.

Trying to install with the 10.8.5 install image linked at the beginning on this post.

Trying UEFI boot.

I tried booting with Chameleon by pressing 1 during boot, but it didn't work - just went into the Clover bootloader.

My specs:

Core i7-4770k

Asus Gryphon mATX mobo

16GB RAM

Gigabyte GTX 770 vid card

Thanks!

Thank you very much!

It was the BIOS setting Limit maximum CPUID - I changed from Enabled to Disabled and BAM! The KP was gone.

I've got 10.8.5 installed now. I just have to get it configured with a boot loader & I should be good to go.

Thank you very much for your help!

I want to dual boot Linux and Mac OS X. Is it possible ? Both Chameleon and Clover doesn't seem to detect my USB installation media, although I successfully booted.

Is there some parameter to change in the BIOS ?

What should I get when I reach Clover ? A button with Install On Disk sorta option ?

Thanks

You should see an option to boot "Mac OS X Install USB" on both Clover and Chameleon.

I really don't understand what's happening.
