This video has no 64 bit drivers, so no support in ML, only in Lion.

Wifi is not supported in any OS X version.

...hey, seems i can only boot in safe mode here...thinking this is a known problem...but not sure...as our friend says..."good hack"

What happens if you don't use safe mode? Use verbose boot and post a picture of the screen.

sorry can't post a pic, but the last thing onscreen is waiting for systemmapper then a backtrace(this when using clover or chameleon from usb) ...boot0:error happens when trying to boot from hdd with chameleon...thanks

Posted

This last message doesn't help. If it's a kernel panic, look for "kernel extensions in backtrace".

Solution for boot0 error is here

If you use Clover, get boot1h from /usr/standalone/i386.

...hmmm, it seems i can't even boot from the install usb unless i use safe mode...something wrong here...i just booted the install usb and getting the same hang "waiting for system mapper" :|

If it's not a kernel panic then it's probably a video issue, try to move video kexts and remove kernelcache (commands on first post).

...thanks for the reply, i know it's something simple(the graphics do seem likely as i get NVDAStartup, NVDAResman, and GF100 loading in safe mode, but curiously GeForce.kext does not)

...i'll look in the info.plist of geforce.kext before i remove anything...(may have to add my GT 430 ids) ;) i'll post back

Posted

...well, finally a normal startup  ...and i'm not entirely sure why... first off, i switched fakesmc.kext with ANV's appledecrypt.kext, rebooted again to safe mode...while in safe mode i edited info.plist of geforce.kext adding the line osbundlerequired/string/root at the end of the file, so it would load in safe mode(that gave me graphics acceleration in safe mode on a restart) finally, in a last-ditch attempt i plugged in the usb installer and booted from it(using 1 at boot to use chameleon) to the new installation, using bootflags at boot prompt -v -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes and presto! a clean boot without -x...now to figure out why this worked :?:

edit: seems when i boot from the usb installer i load fakesmc from the usb stick and appledecrypt from my extensions folder...

Why don't you boot from HD? I pointed you the solution to boot0 error.

hi again, tried your method of fixing boot0: error but when booting from hdd still getting boot0: error...however from windows 8 bootloader i can select my osx partition(on a separate hdd) computer then goes through boot sequence again this time with boot0: done from there i am looking at the chameleon boot prompt where i can select my os x partition and use bootflags -v -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes and now on 10.8.3 without using the usb stick

my system has one 80gb sata hdd(exclusively windows8) and one 500gb sata hdd(first partition is ntfs, second partition is fat32, third partition is hfs+ journaled)

i installed boot0md to the windows 8 partition with chameleon wizard and can boot mac from there ;) ...no disabler no fakesmc(replaced with appledecrypt.kext)

edit: ...just wanted to say thanks for the installer, and your time...my methods may be mad, but we all must work with what we have ;)

Hi, I have followed your steps to boot the usb drive and install.

I tried Clover but the website had an error ( The error returned was:

Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken. )

So I tried Chameleon , downloaded it and copied its files to the usb flash, but when I tried to boot from it , I had another problem, after restarting it says " BOOTMGR IS MISSING

PRESS ctrl+alt+del to restart"

What is wrong? Have I made a mistake? Or is there a file I need to download?

Thanks....

Clover link updated on first post.

Are you sure the partition is primary (not extended/logical)?

1-I've downloaded it, but what should I do next?

2-You mean a partition in the usb flash?

3- And you said to make a partition using Disk Utility in the utilities menu in the top, I really can't find that menu... But I used the steps in the attached photo, does it work?

I'll be thankful for your help....

Check your BIOS settings (specially NX bit)

If problem persists you can try boot with Chameleon (press 1 at boot).

1 - It's a post installation procedure.

2 - No, the partition where OS X is installed.

3 - It's there, you have to boot from the installer USB.

In which step of first post are you? Have you installed OS X already?

No I haven't. I'm at - Boot the USB drive and install.

I've downloaded the file ( first step ) and copied the raw file using suse image writer to a usb flash ( gb ) and downloaded the bootloader ( tried both chameleon and clover ) and copied their files to the same flash and tried to boot from it but it said

" BOOTMGR IS MISSING

press ctrl+alt+del to restart "

Posted

You don't need to install the bootloader at this point, the USB is already bootable, just set in BIOS to boot from USB.
