Hi everyone I embark on a conversion on an old Mac Pro 2008 case.I will share have experience in converting the Mac Pro 2008 cases into ATX compatible and keep original inside mac pro design.
My custom hardware is :

  • Asus Prime Z390-A (ATX)
  • Intel Core i9-9900K
  • AMD RX 580 8GB (MSI)
  • 32 GB (8x4) Corsair
  • NVMe M.2 WD Blue SN 550 & Black 750
  • 5K Display (iMac body) request the dual display port for 5K 60hz 
  • Apple Magic Mouse & Apple Magic Keyboard.
  • OpenCore Olarila EFI and dsdt

could you share your experience and tips to convert the case?

I have exactly the same case to mod it soon.

What kind of screw holders do you use it? How did you pasted or soldered ?

Are the Pcie slots available?? I can see that your mobo is ITX but I would love to use normal ATX form and have all the pcie slots usable.

Did you changed the front usb 2.0 and FireWire?

have you polished and painted the case?

Also I have 4 more G4 cases haha so would be really cool to mod them too.

This is the how to connect the front panel.

And to cut the top inside of mac pro for ATX Motherboard.spacer.png

 

And I used the white Acrylic for position of motherboard screws

To mark position before cut of add tested also.
