andy5925 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 After installation from USB, it says successful and then reboots. I have the boot order to set to USB first, but when the USB comes back up, I do not see my HD to boot into the operating system. The partition is set to MBR and I believe it is set to active (although I could use some help in how I can verify it is active). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

andy5925 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Soooo looks like I may be out of luck. I was trying to complete this on my old Dell XPS 420 system with bios A07. I don't see any options in the bios to modify the HD controller settings. Unless anyone has any ideas I may be stuck. Ok I got the drive to display and chose to boot from the HD where OSX was installed. My new issue is that I get a message that says "still waiting for root device" and a grey box with an "x" through it appears on the screen. Help?

Touz Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hi, I managed to successfully configure my hackintosh but there's only one thing ! I can't get to make my USB MIDI keyboard controller to work. I wanted to know if there were specific drivers for that or is it AppleHDA based ? Typing system_profiler SPUSBDataType in a terminal doesn't show up any device when connected. Thanks for your replies
hamid37 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Access chat to get download link (channel topic). Image size: 5.020.384.768 bytes (need at least an 8 GB pen drive) MD5 (OS X 10.8 Install USB.raw) = 4251f2d2866417add966ffcec848cc4f Contents: OS X Mountain Lion GM Seed (Build 12A269) MD5 (InstallESD.dmg) = 8b4869920cd740414fe6b7e3f0b1be3e Modified files: System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Install.framework/Frameworks/OSInstall.framework/Versions/A/OSInstall Added files: System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext boot (Chameleon v2.1svn r2003) Extra/Preboot.dmg Preboot.dmg contents: Extensions.mkext org.chameleon.Boot.plist Extensions.mkext contents: AHCIPortInjector.kext AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext FakeSMC.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext PXHCD.kext VoodooPS2Controller.kext VoodooPS2Keyboard.kext VoodooPS2Mouse.kext VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext How to use: 1 - Copy the .raw file to an USB stick using SUSE Studio Image Writer. If you have error during copy, eject and re-connect the pen drive. When Windows asks if you want to format it, cancel and run Image Writer again. If the problem persists, disable your anti-virus software, it may be blocking raw write to the drive. Another Image Writer for Windows, if SUSE doesn't work http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ 2 - Boot the USB drive and install. If you need, type boot options, for example: -v (verbose boot) [default] -x (safe) -s (single user) GraphicsEnabler=yes (enable graphics card drivers) [default] USBBusFix=yes (fix problems with USB devices) npci=0x2000 (use if boot stops at "PCI configuration begin") cpus=1 (for HP with Insyde BIOS, use while you don't have patched lapic kernel) If you need, use TransMac to remove kexts which are causing problems (System/Library/Extensions) and use the flag -f (ignore caches) at boot, or remove /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext If you get KP related to ApplePolicyControl.kext remove /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePolicyControl.kext If boot stops right before reaching the installer, or graphics aren't working right, remove video kexts and boot with GraphicsEnabler=No -f ATI = ATI* Intel = AppleIntelHD* AppleIntelSNB* nVidia = GeForce* NVDA* You need at least one free partition, use Disk Utility (in the Utilities menu) to erase it as Mac Os Extended (Journaled). If you want to install Chameleon (the boot loader) in this partition and you use MBR (not GUID, like if you already have Windows in the HD), it must be a primary (not extended/logical) partition. Wait for the installation to finish and restart. 3 - Boot the USB drive, then choose to boot the HD you just installed OS X (not the installer USB again). 4 - Install Chameleon and the Extra folder to the HD. I recommend using Chameleon Wizard to install and create/configure org.chameleon.Boot.plist and SMBIOS.plist in /Extra folder. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=257464 You can also download an installer (pkg) or binaries package (i386) http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=70 5 - Install essential and other kexts you may need (network, audio, etc). FakeSMC.kext is always needed. http://www.mediafire.com/?lgxtj47kk47cn9k While you don't have power management fixed, you will probably need NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. http://www.mediafire.com/?uwvnvztwtna If you use PS/2 keyboard or a laptop you will need VoodooPS2Controller.kext (or ApplePS2Controller.kext) and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext. http://www.mediafire.com/?jw9zk6i2d4m2vvd How to find kexts for your hardware http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1694 I recommend using Kext Wizard to install kexts. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=253395 Post install issues: Video (if you had to remove kexts to install) http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1677 boot0: error http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1676 CMOS reset after sleep http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1015 Still waiting for root device using kernelcache http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1701 No admin account http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1627&p=14911#p14911 When you format the USB drive as FAT/NTFS you'll notice its size was reduced.
