Bart Rap Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Hi Daniel; Am back from a heavy working week abroad :-)... Okay; where did we leave it ? Should I replace your created EFI folder in the fresh install ssd or in my older Mojave ssd that has all my programs installed ? In both the old and the fresh install, the thunderbolt card is show 'no hardware was found' when I check it in system report. Let me replace the EFI folders in both new and old Mojave ssd's to see what happens; will keep you posted.... Cheers, Bart

Bart Rap Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Ok; then I will have to wait until I have my thunderbolt hardware here to check it out. Thank you; will let you know; here attached are some new send-me files and the screenshot, of the 'new/fresh' Olarila ssd. Bart Rap Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Hi Daniel; I restored the EFI partition to the old one that I had and disabled the Thunderbolt card in the Bios, because otherwise I could not boot the old system anymore. Here is a IOReg file as requested.... IOReg Bart’s iMac with 'old' mojave drive.zip

Bart Rap Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Hi Daniel; I have changed the Thunderbolt card into PCIe slot #6 and have selected the link speed to GEN3. I made some progression, because now the ssd with Mojave and apps installed boot normally. Now I have to wait until I receive my new UAD TB3 Audio interface, to see if everything works. Will keep you advised. Thanks again! Bart. Also I have made some latest IOReg and 'Send-me' files, for your information. Have a nice weekend ! Bart Rap Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 I have an ASRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC R2.0 card. Also I have made some latest IOReg and 'Send-me' files, for your information. Have a nice weekend ! It would be great to get everything working on my ssd with Mojave and the apps installed, as it took me a long time to have all the installed apps and plugins to work. The IOReg file and the send me file are freshly created from my Mojave audio apps ssd. Maybe it is usefull for you to know that many times before I get a succesful boot (see screenshot attached), I end up with a hung system. Could it be that the thunderbolt card needs a certain boot time before it is ready ? Have a nice sunday Daniel! IOReg Bart’s iMac.zip Send me Barts-iMac.zip unsuccsefull boot.jpg.zip

Bart Rap Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Thanks Daniel; I have returned the thunderbolt card to my supplier. It's a pity because I would have really loved to have thunderbolt 3 on my asrock motherboard, but if it gives to many problems, then I rather spend that time in making music. Thank you for your time Daniel; Will start to look for a motherboard with thunderbolt 3 onboard.... Have a marry Christmas and a wonderful 2021; Cheers from a locked down Netherlands, Bart

Bart Rap Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Thanks for that tip Daniel; I would like to use my processor (i7 9700K socket 1151) and other parts on the new motherboard; would a designare z370 with thunderbolt onboard be good as well ?

Bart Rap Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) Ahh yes my mistake; I meant a z390 designare... correct. Do you think if I change the motherboard that I can still leave my Mojave ssd with all the music apps and plugins installed ? It would really save me a lot of time ... I have found a Designare z390 on offer in my area; am going to collect it tommorow ?; Work to to Daniel hahaha; Will keep you posted! Obrigado, Bart Edited December 15, 2020 by Bart Rap

Bart Rap Posted December 16, 2020 Author Posted December 16, 2020 Hi again; YES I have the board here at home now; Gigabyte Z390 Designare ver 1.0! Now first I have to work some days abroad again and then after that I will swap the board. Do you think we can make it work with my existing Mojave partition that I used with the ASRock board ? I have made image copies and time capsule backups as well just in case it goes wrong.... I will first install everything on a separate ssd to have a clean set and get all kext and dsdt's aligned. When everything works I will try to write the working new EFI folder to the old Mojave ssd with all the installed applications... The 'updated' system will consist of the following parts; - Designare Z390 ver1.0 motherboard -i7 9700K proc - 64 GB ddr4 ram - msi rx580 video - 2x samsung m.2 ssd - fire wire adapter(texas instr controller for compatibility macos) - tp link wifi compatible (also compatible) - UAD octo core card - (later on) a UAD Apollo interface connected to the thunderbolt port Can't wait to start to explore! But first some days of work Have a nice evening ?

Bart Rap Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 Hi Daniel ! Am back from work and I managed tonight to replace my ASRock z390 Extreme4 motherboard with the Gigabyte Designare Z390 ver 1.0. It has bios version F7. Guess what ? I was so happy to see that after resetting the bios and some small adaptions my system just booted all the way up to the desktop; very happy to see that I can continue to work with all my apps and plugins !!! Great stuff! So; hereby you find a IOReg file and the 'send-me' file ccreated with the new designare board; can you please create the dsdt for my system ? Is there anything else I need to do ? Thanks again and I keep you posted, Bart PS I do not have my thunderbolt 3 UAD Apollo device in yet, so I can not yet test the Thunderbolt functionality. Have a great weekend ! Bart Rap Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Hi; I think if the smbios and/or serials change probably a lot of apps will not work anymore; what do you think ? Ok; I attached the EFI folder that I a using now; had to delete the themes folder otherwise the file would be too big... Think I have to reward you a Christmas donation soon ?!! EFI.zip

Bart Rap Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Hi Daniel; I just did as you said; I used your EFI, but then it gets stuck at the screenshot ending with a firewire message. I had to put back my previous EFI file, but that now makes me stuck at the second screenshot (couldn't allocate runtime area). Should I put the bios back into using the RX580 instead of the internal graphics ? Cheers, Bart screen dumps.zip EFI.zip
