Bart Rap Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) Ahh yes my mistake; I meant a z390 designare... correct. Do you think if I change the motherboard that I can still leave my Mojave ssd with all the music apps and plugins installed ? It would really save me a lot of time ... I have found a Designare z390 on offer in my area; am going to collect it tommorow ?; Work to to Daniel hahaha; Will keep you posted! Obrigado, Bart Edited December 15, 2020 by Bart Rap

Bart Rap Posted December 16, 2020 Author Posted December 16, 2020 Hi again; YES I have the board here at home now; Gigabyte Z390 Designare ver 1.0! Now first I have to work some days abroad again and then after that I will swap the board. Do you think we can make it work with my existing Mojave partition that I used with the ASRock board ? I have made image copies and time capsule backups as well just in case it goes wrong.... I will first install everything on a separate ssd to have a clean set and get all kext and dsdt's aligned. When everything works I will try to write the working new EFI folder to the old Mojave ssd with all the installed applications... The 'updated' system will consist of the following parts; - Designare Z390 ver1.0 motherboard -i7 9700K proc - 64 GB ddr4 ram - msi rx580 video - 2x samsung m.2 ssd - fire wire adapter(texas instr controller for compatibility macos) - tp link wifi compatible (also compatible) - UAD octo core card - (later on) a UAD Apollo interface connected to the thunderbolt port Can't wait to start to explore! But first some days of work Have a nice evening ?

Bart Rap Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 Hi Daniel ! Am back from work and I managed tonight to replace my ASRock z390 Extreme4 motherboard with the Gigabyte Designare Z390 ver 1.0. It has bios version F7. Guess what ? I was so happy to see that after resetting the bios and some small adaptions my system just booted all the way up to the desktop; very happy to see that I can continue to work with all my apps and plugins !!! Great stuff! So; hereby you find a IOReg file and the 'send-me' file ccreated with the new designare board; can you please create the dsdt for my system ? Is there anything else I need to do ? Thanks again and I keep you posted, Bart PS I do not have my thunderbolt 3 UAD Apollo device in yet, so I can not yet test the Thunderbolt functionality. Have a great weekend ! Bart Rap Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Hi; I think if the smbios and/or serials change probably a lot of apps will not work anymore; what do you think ? Ok; I attached the EFI folder that I a using now; had to delete the themes folder otherwise the file would be too big... Think I have to reward you a Christmas donation soon ?!! EFI.zip

Bart Rap Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Hi Daniel; I just did as you said; I used your EFI, but then it gets stuck at the screenshot ending with a firewire message. I had to put back my previous EFI file, but that now makes me stuck at the second screenshot (couldn't allocate runtime area). Should I put the bios back into using the RX580 instead of the internal graphics ? Cheers, Bart screen dumps.zip EFI.zip

Bart Rap Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) csm is definately disabled ok i will try your EFI folder again;I have disabled the thunderbolt in the bios and also internal graphics= disabled; then i could boot again without getting the 'could not allocate....' crash. Here are the results Daniel; I removed the firewire card to see if that would help. Just also to confirm my setup; a designare z390 board rev 1.0 with BIOS F9i. My processor is an intel i7 (not i9) 9700K; Graphics board is an MSI RX 580 Gaming X. I have made a preboot log file, some screenshote, a IOReg file and new send-me files based on the boot with your EFI folder. Thanks again ? Bart Rap Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) Hi Daniel; Thanks. So I will use the current EFI folder and will replace the acpi and kext files in it with the ones you have sent me now; will be right back with the results Making progression Daniel! System boots; I guess there is some pollution in the EFI files because mixed EFI's are now used -- But the system boots fine now. Still, I have not enabled the Thunderbolt interface yet in the bios; will try that in a bit. The thunderbolt was actually enabled in the bios; Good; although it doesnt show in the Mojave system overview; but that is normal I think you said right ? Here is a IOReg copy that you requested; just to be sure I will also add a fresh 'send-me' file. Send me Barts-iMac.zip Bart’s iMac IOReg.zip Edited December 20, 2020 by Bart Rap
Bart Rap Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 Hi Daniel; Tomorrow I will get the UAD Arrow Thunderbolt 3 device so I can hook it up. One thing that occurs to me in the current setting, is that the front side usb, only the usb 2.0 senses usb sticks. the 3.0/3.1 is not detected. I have installed a Big Sur Olarila version on a seperate ssd (Works perfect!). On that ssd all usb ports are recognized; you think you can fix it on the Mojave one ? Thanks !
