Dear Madlon,

Continue with my fix for video patch, from this link: https://blog.daliansky.net/Intel-core-display-platformID-finishing.html

I found out that my platform ID for HD530 4K is 0x193b0005

After modify that one into the EFI folder, it had improvement with previous as picture below, but I do not know video is fixed yet and meet other problem (smc?). At this step, the screen stop running, I waited around 10 minutes but nothing change.

Could you please help me see the code to know problem form where. Attached file is EFI folder I'm using.

Thanks so much!

Dear Madlon,

I have improvement with the process of tuning for my hackintosh in video patch

From idea of this topic: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/laptop-internal-4k-display-not-working.305433/

Because when I see the code stop, my HDD led still run, keyboard light have, the screen of laptop show black screen but not turn off —> I guess have problem that EDID of my screen not recognize. So I try to connect my laptop over HDMI with external display and the magic show:

https://imageupload.io/8j5gLO9NhM.i

I used the EFI folder in the post I quoted. The problem I think that because in Big Sur, the boot args -cdfon can not use with 4K screen. Now we need to find the way to fix EDID for my 4K internal laptop screen. Could you help me give idea go resolve this? Can we use Hackintool to fix?

I’m reading this topic, he has problem same as me: https://gitmemory.com/frbuccoliero
and https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/solved-guide-workaround-for-cdfon.306154/

Dear Maldon,

I have finally successful to patch video by patch EDID for my internal 4k (but the refresh rate of screen only 48Hz, need to wait for new release of Lilu and Whatevergreen), also brightness change button is fix. Thanks for your patience with my case.

Currently, I'm facing up with 02 remain issues related to power:

1. No battery icon and not show status of charging, as picture in this link: https://imgur.com/V2c3SkV (it shows current battery charge 0% instead that I plug in power)

2. Lid ưake/sleep wake: After close lid, when I open again, the screen show grey like this picture, can not go inside again, need to turn off by power button (already port mapping usb: https://imgur.com/cjYIAVA

Also I add Runme and ioreg file. Could you please help me check DSDT file is full fix yet? and EFI file need to fine tune anything more or not to finally the hack and I start to use it daily (boot args, quirks...)

Thanks so much!

  • -wegoff to disable WhateverGreen.
  • -wegbeta to enable WhateverGreen on unsupported OS versions (11 and below are enabled by default).
  • -wegnoegpu to disable external GPU (or add disable-external-gpu property to IGPU).
  • -radvesa to disable ATI/AMD video acceleration completely.
  • -rad24 to enforce 24-bit display mode.
  • -raddvi to enable DVI transmitter correction (required for 290X, 370, etc.).
  • -radcodec to force the spoofed PID to be used in AMDRadeonVADriver
  • radpg=15 to disable several power-gating modes (see FAQ, required for Cape Verde GPUs).
  • agdpmod=vit9696 disables check for board-id (or add agdpmod property to external GPU).
  • agdpmod=pikera replaces board-id with board-ix
  • agdpmod=ignore disables AGDP patches (vit9696,pikera value is implicit default for external GPUs)
  • ngfxgl=1 boot argument (and disable-metal property) to disable Metal support on NVIDIA
  • ngfxcompat=1 boot argument (and force-compat property) to ignore compatibility check in NVDAStartupWeb
  • ngfxsubmit=0 boot argument (and disable-gfx-submit property) to disable interface stuttering fix on 10.13
  • gfxrst=1 to prefer drawing Apple logo at 2nd boot stage instead of framebuffer copying.
  • gfxrst=4 to disable framebuffer init interaction during 2nd boot stage.
  • igfxframe=frame to inject a dedicated framebuffer identifier into IGPU (only for TESTING purposes).
  • igfxsnb=0 to disable IntelAccelerator name fix for Sandy Bridge CPUs.
  • igfxgl=1 boot argument (and disable-metal property) to disable Metal support on Intel.
  • igfxmetal=1 boot argument (and enable-metal property) to force enable Metal support on Intel for offline rendering.
  • igfxpavp=1 boot argument (and igfxpavp property) to force enable PAVP output
  • igfxfw=2 boot argument (and igfxfw property) to force loading of Apple GuC firmware
  • -igfxvesa to disable Intel Graphics acceleration.
  • -igfxnohdmi boot argument (and disable-hdmi-patches) to disable DP to HDMI conversion patches for digital sound.
  • -igfxtypec to force DP connectivity for Type-C platforms.
  • -cdfon (and enable-hdmi20 property) to enable HDMI 2.0 patches.
  • -igfxdump to dump IGPU framebuffer kext to /var/log/AppleIntelFramebuffer_X_Y (available in DEBUG binaries).
  • -igfxfbdump to dump native and patched framebuffer table to ioreg at IOService:/IOResources/WhateverGreen
  • igfxcflbklt=1 boot argument (and enable-cfl-backlight-fix property) to enable CFL backlight patch

  • igfxfcmsfbs= boot argument (complete-modeset-framebuffers device property) to specify indices of connectors for which complete modeset must be enforced. Each index is a byte in a 64-bit word; for example, value 0x010203 specifies connectors 1, 2, 3. If a connector is not in the list, the driver's logic is used to determine whether complete modeset is needed. Pass -1 to disable.
  • igfxonln=1 boot argument (force-online device property) to force online status on all displays.
  • igfxonlnfbs=MASK boot argument (force-online-framebuffers device property) to specify indices of connectors for which online status is enforced. Format is similar to igfxfcmsfbs.
  • wegtree=1 boot argument (rebuild-device-tree property) to force device renaming on Apple FW.
  • igfxrpsc=1 boot argument (rps-control property) to enable RPS control patch (improves IGPU performance).
  • -igfxcdc boot argument (enable-cdclk-frequency-fix property) to support all valid Core Display Clock (CDCLK) frequencies on ICL platforms. Read the manual

Dear Maldon,

Here is my Send me & Ioreg file. Please help me review to fix the problem "if not connect to charger, after shutdown my laptop can not turn on by press power button".

Also when you check DSDT file, please help me check with 02 things I want to modify:

1. Completely disable laptop GPU: By this link https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Laptops/laptop-disable.html  Instead of do SSDT, can we do it in DSDT? Because the boot arg -wenoegpu not completely disable it.

2. Fix trackpad I2C: I want to use touch screen, by this link https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Laptops/trackpad.html  Can you help me check DSDT to fix it into DSDT stead of make SSDT method?

For the case of sleep wake/lid wake: I have test to connect to external display over HDMI, sleep/wake normal --> I think the problem by EDID for my internal 4k laptop display. In Big Sur, some patch of Lilu/Whatevergreen is broken like -cdfon --> I need to wait for new release and continue to test other method. If you have any idea please let me know!

Thank you so much!
