rvilbert Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 Thank you Mald0n for your help. At last i managed to boot with Opencore on Catalina also thanks to @jmacie who shared with me his config.plist. Unfortunately it did not work on Big Sur. I ended up with a Kernel Panic .... I have attached my config.file in case someone needs some help (Catalina 10.15.6 / Opencore 0.6.1 Release / Asus X99 Deluxe / i7 5960x / Radeon RX 570) I believe i will have to keep digging for Big Sur. Thanks a lot! config.plist.zip I share also my boot screen with KP in case someone has any bright idea and know how to fix this. Thanks! rvilbert Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 Hi Mald0n I hope everything is ok. i have continued my quest to install Big sur on Opencore and i believe i'm almost there but i get stuck on a grey screen with my mouse pointer just before i can see the installer screen. I thought that was linked to VirtualSMC which I replaced by FakeSMC but same issue. I also declared my graphic card in config.plist as i thought it could come from there but that's not the issue (Radeon RX 570). Would you mind having a look at my config please as i have scratching my head for some time now. I have attached my EFI folder and my ioreg extract. Let me know if you need anything else. rvilbert Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 Hi Mald0n, I have continued digging and tried with / without some kexts and i have still not been able to reach the installer but i get stuck at the apple logo and at roughly 90% completion in the progress bar. Not sure if this is helpful but here is my opencore config file. Any idea would be much appreciated. Thanks R config.plist.zip I'm wondering whether it is the graphic card but it should be fully recognised (Radeon RX 570)... rvilbert Posted October 19, 2020 Author Posted October 19, 2020 Hi Mald0n Thank you for your reply and help which allowed me to made some progress. I have used your EFI and SSDT which I had to tweak as a device was not well defined and i had to include some of my other SSDT to be able to boot. I managed to get to the installer and to start the install but roughly at 12 min remaining there is a crash and my computer restarts. It looks like it is coming from Diskarbitration as it sent a kernel SIGKILL. I saw in your EFI that you have a DiskarbritrationFixup.kext but it does not look like it is doing anything as i have tried with and without it. Any idea of where this could be coming from? I have attached the EFI i have been using for this. Thanks a lot! rvilbert Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 Yes i do have Catalina 10.15.7 which boots with opencore 0.6.2. Just so you know, I have try to install Big Sur from Catalina but at the first reboot i get to the Apple logo of the installer and then after roughly 10% of completion, the computer restarts with i think an error. When i try to go back again I always end up with the same reboot at the same point. When i install from the USB drive, i end up at the same stage. After the first reboot i get to the apple logo and same thing a reboot after 10%.
