Administrators MaLd0n Posted September 10, 2011 Author Administrators Posted September 10, 2011 Mald0n, I PM'd you but thought I should post in the thread. I am having issues with my Maximus IV Extreme DSDT. I've tried patching and loading the AML, but it is still causing kernel panics. I attached the DSDT.dsl file (non-patched). Is there anyway you could patch it for me? Thank you SO much! Adam1203 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 post photo you need... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=258611 Thank you! That fixed the KPs. Does my DSDT look correct? I'm a DSDT noob but I'm trying to read as much as possible. Everything is pretty vague though. Thanks for your help!
Dropkickwalker Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can please help. I have a patched DSDT that provides built-in USB/2, nVidia Graphics, SBUS, built-in SATA and the usual DSDT fixes. Only thing left to patch is HDEF and HDMI audio, but I am not too interested in those since I use a natively supported USB audio solution. The system is stable, but I am missing C-States and wake from sleep returns to a black screen and needs rebooting. When rebooted, from a failed wake from sleep, the BIOS changes the Ethernet setting to 'OFF' or "PXE'. is there anyone who can offer some help? Perhaps I need to patch my Ethernet in the DSDT? I just can't find where to do this in the DSDT. Dell Optiplex 755 Desktop BIOS A19(latest). DSDT attached. I have no additional Kexts in /Extra. Thanks in advance! Dropkickwalker Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 thanks Maldon. Please can you explain the comment about CST? SHould I replace _CST with something else? Many thanks Rob Oh Wait. Sorry, i understand now, the suggestion is that some Dell's don't generate c-states. However, I have just managed to update my DSDT with my LPC's Device ID, which I also added to AppleLPC.kext. There is no longer any system log messages complaining about c-states. I therefore think that they have loaded. Some more testing... regards, Rob

Dropkickwalker Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 your DSDT is ok LPC LOADED It seems that I was a little hasty with my last response. Although I have LPC Device ID added to both the DSDT and the AppleLPC.KEXT, I do NOT get C-States. LPCDriver and AppleLPC.KEXT are loaded ok. I had a typo in the the AppleLPC.KEXT, which stopped it from loading last night. That is why Console failed to report the C-State warning message. I am back to square 1. No C-States and unable to resume from Sleep (Black screen). Do I need C-States to resume successfully from sleep, or should I be looking for a different cause? I still suspect the onboard Intel Ethernet card, since I have NOT made any edit's to the DSDT for this. Any idea's anyone please? I thought that there were a few people using Dell Optiplex 755 systems... Thanks Rob
cvetican Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 THANKS
Dropkickwalker Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Maldon, I would just like to say THANK YOU for your help earlier this week. In addition, all those who contributed to this thread. I believe that my Dell Optiplex has full native PM now. I made two changes: 1. changes the CPU from E6550 C2Duo to a Q6600 C2Quad; 2. Updated DSDT to specify 4 CPU's with the P States; LPC is loaded and Kernel.log does NOT report missing C-States! Apart from signifiant (almost double and close to my new MacbookPro i5) GeekBench scores (32bit - I am cheap), sleep is working. However, it is VERY slow to resume. It takes 60-90 seconds for the screen to wake and for the keyboard to become responsive. I guess that I just need to be patient for waking from sleep Thanks again, Rob
Ainxthea Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 m11xR2.zipHi Maldon, Pls Help me to build my dsdt Alienware M11XR2 Core I7 640UM Nvidia Geforce GT 335M and Integrated Intel 4500MHD Thx
Dolnor Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I appreciate your hard work MaLd0n, It's sad that I have missed the point in time when Auto Patcher was still available, still the tools provided are more than enough to tinker with DSDT patching. I have built a quiet HTPC machine from spare parts which I'm going to upgrade with a discrete graphics card later on, meanwhile using onboard GMA950. Staying at 10.6.7 until I polish everything, have almost everything working, as I had some previous knowledge with my GA-P35-DS3L & Q6600 setup for almost 3 years now coming from Leopard all the way to Lion without skipping a version. Now the board is ASUS P5GZ-MX running ICH7 (no AHCI, SATA is set to Enhanced, but supposedly is working as Native), I have managed to get native PM with my E2160 4xP-State, have GMA950 running (sluggish, but oh well) and onboard ALC883 3-port sound working flawlessly. Also the onboard LAN is Marvell 8001 - somewhat tricky, using skgeosx helps. The real problem that is bothering me is that sleep is not working no matter what I do. I have even tried SleepEnabler, but it won't load with this kext. So back to traditional DSDT editing I go.. and beg for assistance. Here's my files, which include: * lspci and dmesg output * System Profiler snippet * IOReg data for use with IORegistryExplorer app * DSDT that I have put together with the knowledge of things that i have http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2573233/P5GZ-MX_iMac5%2C1.zip I really have no idea where might be the problem with the sleep. The computer goes to sleep fine, all the coolers shut down and it will just blink the power LED until i hit the power button, tickle any HID device or remove a USB device to trigger a wake. Then it will prompt to wake but it will POST immediately meaning that it has restarted. So, no actual sleep at all. The motherboard has jumpers for +5VSB to allow wake from S3 and I have them set accordingly, also S3 only, APCI 2.0 and APIC are enabled in BIOS. Thank you in advance! P.S. Sorry for the wall of text

zfigz Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 That didn't work either...I just removed kexts, then applied the dsdt using multishit, and restarted the computer. Should I maybe reinstall OS X all over again and try from scratch? Thanks so much for your help. I'm really looking forward to getting this fixed.
