  1. My CPU is overheating and fan is always spinning even for normal usage. My config: Dell XPS L501x | Intel i7 740M (First Gen/Clarksfield) | 4GB DDR3 | nVidia GT435m (vendor id:0x10DE, device id: 0DD3) | Samsung 840 Pro 256GB | 1920 x 1080 15.6" FHD | Synaptic Trackpad | Realtek ALC665 Audio I am using clover and custom DSDT, which seems to be working fine for others with same laptop. I do plain vanilla installation. Install using Clover and load following kexts: ACPIBacklight.kext, ACPIBatteryManager.kext, FakeSMC.kext, RealtekRTL81xx.kext, VoodooPS2Controller.kext Usage: Just using Chrome and no other apps. Only one or two tabs, like gmail or facebook. No CPU or GPU intensive like youtube etc. Just simple websites. HW Sensor screenshot: Temp never goes below 75 and I have seen even reaching 81 - 82. CPU frequency keeps changing between 931MHz - 1.73GHz (max). When I start laptop, the fan is spinning at low speed and it gradually increases in one or two minutes and stay at high temp and high speed fan. power management related clover config: My full clover config - http://dpaste.com/0RQW3HZ Appreciate any help. If you need any more info, please let me know. Thanks!
  2. I have Dell XPS L501x laptop, currently running Mavericks. I will be upgrading to Yosemite (will use Clover) and also doing some system upgrades. Since my laptop is old (2010), it has BIOS (and no UEFI support) My current config: i7 740 (first gen Intel proccy), 4GB RAM, 500GB SATA HDD, nvdia 435m graphics card. - I want to replace HDD with SSD (Samsung Pro 840, 256GB) - Remove optical drive. Add the HDD here with the caddy - Replace RAMs with 2x4GB I need multiboot system. Currently both OS X and Windows are installed on same HDD. Now I am thinking to install OS X on SSD, Windows on HDD. Is that the right way/suggested way to do it? OR shall I install both on SSD? I often read that it's better to install different OS on different partitions, but why so? Secondly, can anyone give me some instructions or point me to relevant guide? I am not asking for entire tutorial, just brief points will do. Thank you
  3. Used Rehabman's Voodoo PS2 controller and now its back to how it was in 10.9. Yay! Thank you very much guys
  4. But in System Preferences it says no Trackpad or Mouse connected. I only have following kexts which I had installed with Mavericks installation 10.9, the gestures I mentioned were working. They were even working when I had updated to 10.9.3 first time. Here are those kexts: AppleHDA.kext AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext AppleRTC.kext AppleSmartBatteryManager.kext HSSDBlockStorage.kext IOAudioFamily.kext JMB38X.kext LegacyAGPM.kext PXHCD.kext RealtekRTL81xx.kext I believe following two are related to trackpad, so I even reinstalled them: AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext But still they are not working. Don't know what changed, as they were working earlier in my first update of 10.9.3
  5. It totally worked!!!! Thanks a lot guys, thank you very very much :D Everyhting seems to be working, ethernet, audio, display... I couldn't be happier.... Earlier I had few gentures with my trackpad, 3 finger swipe and up/down scroll... only that thing seems to be not working now.... the same kexts which I had installed with my earlier update, were working.... so is there file I should edit to enable this again?
  6. Okay, I will try now and report back here. Shall I use Mac-94245B3640C91C81 instead of 'Mac-94245A3940C91C80'? cos in my cos my ID is macbookpro8,1 and I got that from here: http://devid.info/es/model/5735
  7. no I don't... so can I install update again on the update? and also there are no NVDA or GeForce kext in the /S/L/E now. So this update will also install them?
  8. I don't have following directory at all /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext/Contents/
  9. How to do this? or did you meant kexts of 10.9? and also path mentioned in that seems wrong: /S*/L*/E*/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/C*/P*/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext/C*/Info.plist but here, after /S*/L*/E*/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/C*/P*/, I don't have AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext
  10. Thank you, but my problem is different
  11. I had perfectly working Hackintosh on 10.9. However I had to update to 10.9.3 cos of Xcode Beta 6. I have taken back up of kexts from /S/L/E directory Here is what I did: Downloaded 10.9.3 combo update Installed it When I booted it started going to blank screen after Io Bluetooth Completed So I removed all graphics related kexts AppleIntelHD*, NVDA*, GeForce* Rebooted. Now I can boot into it 10.9.3, however no graphics. The resolution was at 1280x1024 Restored kexts from back up, no luck, same error as step one. Removed them and rebooted again. Then I installed these kexts (I have also attached same kexts as attachment here) , now resolution is fixed at 1080p, however I find it quite slow. It takes time (in mili seconds perhaps) to draw the graphics on screen. Not sure how do I explain it better. It's just slow. I load DSDT from /Extra/dsdt.aml (I have also attached this) smbios.plist (located at /Extra): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>MacBook Pro</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacBookPro8,1</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-94245B3640C91C81</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>C02FMWBCDH2G</string> </dict> </plist> chameleon plist file: (from /Extra/) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1080x32</string> <key>IGPEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>LoginToLion</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist> Laptop: Dell XPS L501x, nVidia GT 435m Graphics (vendor id:0x10DE, device id: 0DD3) Any help appreciated! Thank you!
