No USB3. That GenericUSBHXCI.kext was included on the USB for Intel PCs installer in that Clover folder directory so when I installed Clover to my hard drive after installation I copied all those kexts over. The XHCI version appears to be needed only if you have USB3, right? So I should be able to delete it? I'll check to make sure dropssdt=yes is NOT set and will verify about ssdt.aml (I did not create/install any, so my assumption is that it is loading from the original table). So next attempt should be:?? Remove the above USB3 kext, put original DSDT.aml back in the patched folder and see if USB works? Or, ?? Thanks again.

One minor update: shutdown works with no BIOS corruption, but sleep does not work - screen goes blank and then it freezes and I have force a power shutdown. Getting closer!! daggerNC

artur - - adding USBBusFix=Yes to the boot args did not work - checking the Fix USB option within Clover's DSDT patch options causes a KP (AppleACPIPlatformExpert::start failed Unable to find driver for ..............IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1514) - deleting SleepEnabler.kext did not work - replacing your original patched DSDT with the new one WORKS!!! here is a pastebin of the new boot.log http://pastebin.com/m5Yfd6nv OK, so what did you do with this new DSDT file??? Thanks!! daggerNC

Hi artur, Yes, USB mouse was working before installing the patched DSDT, also working in 10.8.3. If I delete the patched DSDT then USB works (but then I loose sleep, shutdown BIOS overwrite, Firewire). Here is the link to my boot.log: http://pastebin.com/EQfAJht1 Thanks!

Hi artur - still not quite there yet with my Gateway 7805u PC on 10.8.4. What I think need to do next is recreate my DSDT that you custom patched for my back on page 58 of this thread. I may have given you the wrong .zip file as I had loaded the initial image already onto my laptop and then ran the tool versus what I think is the recommended way of boot just from the USB installer for Intel image. The DSDT definitely was doing something good as I no longer got the shutdown corrupting/changing my BIOS issue and the laptop recognized my firewire port, but it broke USB so that I can't plug in any type of USB mouse or keyboard. So I'd like to try it all over, but maybe I can try patching my original DSDT.bin file taken from my windows 7 instance. Could you please tell me the list of DSDT patches you applied and I'll try to figure out which one breaks my USB functionality using DSDT Editor? Thanks much!! daggerNC

Hi artur - just traced a USB failure back to loading this patched DSDT (after all the adds and deletes I've been doing to get this hackintosh working, I decided to load in a fresh image). USB ports work, but if I try to use a USB based mouse, it doesn't. The mouse worked fine all the way up to adding my patched DSDT.aml into the /patched folder. Then it no longer works though I can continue to use all the USB ports for thumb drives. When I remove the DSDT file, my USB mouse starts working again. Can you modify the DSDT file for me again? Thanks, daggerNC Oh ya, I do have to install the latest voodooHDA kext in order to get my sound working (just in case that is something affected by the DSDT.aml file) FYI.

OK, now I owe two beers....thanks artur. And YES, I do see the boot.log file now and it does say it loaded a DSDT.aml from the /patched folder. I even see in there that the Vendor ID and Device ID for my Yukon Marvell 88e8071 gigabit LAN card is found, but in my system devices it still shows no LAN devices My guess is that this will take a customized kext to make work? And same for my O2micro card reader - doesn't show up. It does however list out my Firewire port and at least it recognizes I have a USB 2.0 Web Cam, but not sure if it actually works yet. Can I post my boot.log file here so that maybe artur or pernacabeluda or other guru's could scan it for any remaining errors or potential problems??? So this is excellent, I'm actually getting pretty close to a functional/usable hackintosh. Just so I don't violate posting rules and protocols, I guess I need to go to another forum to work out the final device kinks? Oh ya, should I reinstall that /OEM folder config.plist file?? Many, many thanks, daggerNC

Hi Artur - I did not run any scripts. I can open the console app and it shows the same list of folders and files under /Library/Logs = no "boot.log" file I also read in one of the installation threads pointed to earlier that if you have a config.plist file in the OEM/SystemProductName folder that it won't load the patched DSDT.aml ?? So I deleted that OEM config.plist, but no difference that I can notice..

Yes - using latest Clover bootloader. Just rebooted with the DSDT.aml in the /patched folder. However, when I open /Library/Logs, I only have the following in there: DiagnosticReports folder, PostgreSQL folder, LKDC-setup.log, stackshot-syms.log, and stackshot.log files. No CloverEFI folder??

pernacabeluda - I hope I can buy you a beer some day. Thank you for your help.

Couple of really basic questions - answers are probably so easy that's why I can't see them Artur was so kind as to generate a patched DSDT for me. I keep reading the threads on DSDT application, but since I'm soooo noob at this I need to verify if 1) I "installed" the DSDT.aml file correctly, and then 2) how do I know for sure/verify?? Instructions say to put it in the "root of the boot partition", or secondarily in the /Extra folder. I not sure exactly where the root of the boot partition is - I only have OS X 10.8.4 installed, so my assumption is that the root drive has to be the top most folder of my HDD? When I open the viewer window for "Computer" it has two icons, one is my HDD name and the other "Network". So, I put the DSDT.aml in this top level folder by double clicking on my HDD name. I also see Applications, EFI, Library, System, and Users folders in there. Did I get it correct? Out of panicing I tried to find the /Extra folder and I can't see it in any of these folders/directories??? So, how do check/know for sure the DSDT applied correctly? I found threads on how to pull your DSDT inside OS X but I wouldn't know if that was the patched one or not since I didn't do the editing on it. Is there an easy way to verify? Thanks much, daggerNC

Mac OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion bootable USB for Intel PCs

But the Clover version in the USB installer must have a Theme configured (Metal is assumption) because the graphics look/work great when I launch it, right? -

Right after I hit submit I thought of this related question: is there a way to install the modified version of Clover that is on this USB for Intel PCs installer, or to my test USB drive so I can study how that was built (because except for sound and a couple of other kexts it works pretty good on my laptop)? On the current installer version I have I didn't see a way to do that (sorry if I missed it). Thanks again, daggernc -

D'oh! That makes so much sense and I'm sorry I missed that. Thanks a bunch iGenius (so, maybe for now I should change my username to iNoob, or iSlow, iNeedhelp, or... ) -
Mac OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion bootable USB for Intel PCs
daggerNC replied to pernacabeluda's topic in Mountain Lion (10.8)
Read thru this whole thread and a few others and I haven't seen the exact same issue I'm having. This OS X 10.8.3 ML bootable USB for Intel PCs is the best solution so far as I try to hackintosh my Gateway P-7805u FX laptop. I tried Niresh - got it to install but only boots from USB drive; can't get Iatkos to install at all. Lots of learning to go, but a great start with this USB image (thanks!). Since I have lots of devices still not working quite right, Artur was kind enough to create a patched DSDT.aml file for my laptop. But here is the first stumbling point I haven't gotten over - this USB installer uses Clover and it works great. However, when I installed the latest version of Clover via their installer pkg and then I restart, all I see is six small green boxes - I can use the cursor keys to move to the top right icon which I know is boot from the HD, but then it just hangs (no panic). Thus it looks like the default latest Clover messes up on the graphics (I have a nVidia 9800M-GTS card)? But the Clover version on this USB for Intel PCs has no issue?? I also reinstalled and tried the previous Clover version - same issue. So I then decided to try fixing this by installing Clover to a USB drive, and it does the same thing - graphics messed up/ little green boxes. So one question I have is why does this USB for Intel with Clover work but when I install Clover to HDD (or USB) I can't see/do much of anything? Part 2 is that I was hoping that the patched DSDT would fix this (hey, I'm a noob), at least the graphics part, but I don't think so. The link to the instructions is to put it in the "root of the boot partition".... Hmm, again being a noob and reading I still am not 100% sure where and if there is any special process to use. I tried copying it to the top folder of the USB drive where I just installed latest Clover to, but no help. I then see three folders in there and I tried a copy in the /BOOT folder and also tried copying it to a /EXTRA folder, but it didn't seem to do anything. I can't figure out how to make any changes because I'm flying blind with only 6 little green boxes showing. Any getting me starting instructions would be very much appreciated! Cheers, DaggerNC edit: here is a picture of the Clover boot menu with messed up grahpics that I'm having trouble with fixing...
