Please don't patronize me, I've been a Unix user for almost 20 years, and have read quite a bit about hackintoshing. This machine is not for me and will be used for music production, so yes sound has a higher priority than graphics. And yes I know that I can buy an USB soundcard and call it a day, but the budget has been expended, and if the owner wasn't a cheapskate he would have gone for a real mac in the first place, wouldn't he?
I understand perfectly what you are suggesting in the above link: changing the device ID so the kext can deal with the proper device, and injecting a EFI string so the kext knows about the specific layout and configuration of the device. I did change the deviceID (01528086), which is very likely the correct device, and injected the string for this configuration, which is probably wrong but who cares since the kext is rather obviously loaded but not controlling the device:
ig-platform-id: 01620005, Stolen RAM for FB: 32MB, Pipes: 2, Ports: 3, FBMem: 2
BTW, will it be possible at all to use the VGA port. It's the only one in this mobo.
