  1. Thanks I found it. I guess a great deal of time will be needed to be put in on my behalf to understand all that is going on with my sound. Everything seems to be working properly, accept whenever I reboot my settings get lost and of course you seen the error code that is generated at startup. I hope this app fixes that problem, otherwise I may just dump the entire project and start over. Sound is very important in my system builds, but alas I am stuck with onboard sound since I have not been able to find an audio card that works natively in Snow Leopard....unless you happen to know of one I could purchase? Thanks again for all of your help!
  2. Thanks for the insight. I browsed to the link you provided and downloaded the app. Now in the instructions its says to place the app in an area that I am not quite familiar with: "My tool rewrite does the same thing; it loads VoodooHDA.settings, does some consistency checks, and send the settings back to the driver. You just have to put the app in your startup applications in your account configuration, and your VoodooHDA settings will be restored on startup. Terminal does not popup because it\'s a hidden window based app, that just does its job and then exits." Where is this located, if I may ask?
  3. I have noticed this before and I am not sure why it is happening. My sound works fine for the most part even though I do not have a fully functioning Voodoo.HDA console (no treble, bass ect..) I only have PCM, IMix,and Input Gain control. Here is the error message I get in console: 5/10/12 2:58:43 PM org.voodoo.driver.voodoohdahelper[119] Found a device of class VoodooHDADevice: IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/HDEF@5/VoodooHDADevice 5/10/12 2:58:43 PM org.voodoo.driver.voodoohdahelper[119] settings file path: /Users/shutterscfsC/Library/Preferences/VoodooHDA.settings 5/10/12 2:58:43 PM org.voodoo.driver.voodoohdahelper[119] error: couldn't find settings file 5/10/12 2:58:43 PM org.voodoo.driver.voodoohdahelper[119] error: can't read settings 5/10/12 2:58:43 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[95] (com.apple.Kerberos.renew.plist[116]) Exited with exit code: 1 Not sure if it is anything major, but I would certainly like to know if it is causing my issues with the Voodoo.HDA console functionality. Thanks guys.
  4. lol....yeah I see that...works like a charm!! Thanks ever so much, now my new speaker system will sound perfect! Where can I give a donation that dosen't require Paypal?
  5. Okay I replaced the information in the info.plist using my DEV id and Ven id: IOPCIPrimaryMatch 0x10de03f0 When I reboot I have no sound and my speaker icon is grayed out. Not sure why but that is the case.
  6. Device 10de:03f0 This is the device ID and Vendor ID for my onboard chip taken from System Info, I looked it up on the PCI Device Repository, but there was no reference to my PCI ID. It shows the correct chip: Name: MCP61 High Definition Audio No other information is available for this chip.
  7. Now for the stupid question. How do I find out what the PC ID of my audio chip is? I created one for my video card in EFI Studio and added it to my org.chameleon.boot.plist file and got my video card working like a charm, but I can't seem to do the same for my audio chip. There seems to be no option for my audio chip in EFI Studio. Okay this is the information in my voodoo.HDA.kext/info.plist VoodooHDA CFBundleIdentifier org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA IOClass VoodooHDADevice IOMatchCategory VoodooHDADevice IOPCIClassMatch 0x04030000&0xffff0000 IOProviderClass IOPCIDevice IOUserClientClass VoodooHDAUserClient MixerValues I have no idea if this is the correct string for my onboard chip.
  8. Not having major issues with my sound other than the fact that I only seem to get half volume. If I crank it up all the way and turn up the volume on my speakers I get a major drop off in sound quality, it muffles the sound and gets a bit distorted. I am using my onboard sound chip which is the Realtek ALC887 Codec/High Def Audio/2/4/5,1/7.1-channel. I tried using the modified voodoo kext you supply here, but the voodoo panel always shows my output as digital. I do not have that feature on this mobo (GA-M68MT-S2). I only have the standard Blue/Head Phones Pink/Microphone Blue/Speaker jacks. Not sure how to fix the volume issue I tried adding the flag VoodooHDAEnableHalfVolumeFix to my voodooHDA.Kext /info.plist file, but at reboot I lost my sound and the volume icon was grayed out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
